RomComs

One person’s top ten list of romantic comedy movies. People make these lists and throw a couple of the old standbys on there, then add a bunch to the list that no one has heard of, in an effort to act like they are some kind of expert. Sad that Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail didn’t make the list, considering that they literally defined the genre. Their list…

10. An Unmarried Woman 1978

9. Punch Drunk Love 2002 Adam Sandler

8. The Big Sick 2017

7. Anora 2024

6. Annie Hall 1977 Diane Keaton

5. Chungking Express 1994

4. La La Land 2016 Emma Stone

3. Eat Drink Man Woman 1994 Ang Lee

2. The Worst Person in the World 2021

1. When Harry Met Sally 1989 Meg Ryan

Finished Seth Rogan’s memoir: Yearbook. His youth as a Jewish boy, coming of age in Vancouver. Sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Then more drugs. All I can say is that the book is pretty Seth Rogany. A collection of stores, that simply ended at the end of one of the stories. Someone is out of touch with the heartbeat of America. Not sure if it him or me. Probably both. I give the “book” a thumbs down.

My shoes never get dirty. Usually. I make a point to avoid muddy spots whenever possible, and take off my nicer sneakers before working in the kitchen or cutting the grass. I wear my Crocs around the house and to wash the car. I have an old pair of dirty sneakers in the garage for mowing the lawn and working in the yard. But when I was working at Truist Park I wore my black Hokas and purple Ons, and got them dirty. Both are several years old and usually look pretty good. Need to clean them up this weekend.

Still undecided about using gift cards to buy more sneakers. I have a $95.00 Walmart.com gift card that I can use to buy a pair of Nike Panda Dunks, and another $150.00 gift card that I could use to buy a pair of Vans Crosspaths. No rush. Trying to sell lots of the shoes that I already have. When I retire I will have even fewer places to wear them.

Brunswick stew: good choice. Pies: good choice. We are still eating on the peach ice cream that C had made July 19. Also some cookie dough that’s been sitting in the fridge (until it got thrown away).

I eat too much, if you haven’t noticed. After church on Sunday we got back home at 1 pm and I went straight to the kitchen and turned on the oven to warm up leftover pizza. Also ate half a Chipotle burrito that Matthew had discarded. For supper I made a bean burrito from leftovers. Monday I went to McDonalds for lunch. Got a chicken sandwich and large fries for two bucks.
