Thursday: the Braves won. Both teams scored 8 runs in the 8th inning. Ben Ingram shared a photo of his scorecard.
Fans who call this injury riddled Braves season "disappointing" - what were their expectations after so many injuries, especially to so many starting pitchers? Sale, Lopez, Schwellenbarger Smith-Schuster, now Holmes. The entire opening day rotation. Plus Strider missed the first several weeks of the season and was pressed back into service too early. Acuna missed the first 6 weeks of the season. Riley and Murphy have been hurt. Profar's suspension cost half the season. Yes, all this has been disappointing, as has the lack of offense.
Yes all this is most disappointing. The Braves lost the first 7 games of the season, and have lost 8 of their last ten. Other than that, they’ve just about played .500 ball despite the revolving door of starters, relievers, and outfielders. Hard to expect a bunch of scrubs to beats the high dollar payrolls of the Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, Yankees, etc. Snitker has only been thrown out of one game this year.
Did you hear about the SF Giants? They let one minor league pitcher go (SMITH). They called up a different minor league pitcher to make his major league debut (JONES). But the Giants accidentally flew Smith’s parents to SF to see the game. The Giants general manager had to go down into the stands to tell Smith’s parents that they had messed up.
Thursday: I left work at 415 to get the keys to M’s truck before the shop closed. Made it home earlier than usual, and we ate supper a little earlier than usual. Burgers, Fries baked in the oven. Spinach with onions. I need to remember to eat the leftovers this weekend.
Friday: up early to lift weights in the gym. Went to Wendys for lunch. Free fry Friday. The gang at work went out to eat Mexican for lunch. Braves game was an afternoon affair. Saturday is the Speedway game, if it doesn't rain. Nothing on tap for the weekend.
In September Steve Martin is hosting the Bluegrass Music Awards in Chattanooga. Would be tempting to buy a ticket and go. Not many tickets remain for this Saturday night’s Chattanooga Lookouts game, where they are giving away used cars.

Old-School Rules that Boomers Still Live By That Make Zero Sense Anymore. Interesting to read about what the younger generations are thinking. Not sure that I agree with all this.
1. Waiting to meet “the One” soulmate. These days young people’s relationships are different. Not sure that makes them better. At my point in life, having someone by my side to go through the golden years (instead of being alone) is important.
2. Dress to impress – everywhere you go. I know that I oftentimes wear comfortable gym clothes.
3. Staying at one job forever. To each it’s own. Nothing wrong with some temperaments liking stability as opposed to constant change.
4. Never talk about money. I’ve noticed this about young people that I work with. Again, to each it’s own. Isn’t that the phrase?
5. Using your name on everything. In this internet age it is probably a good idea to not do this, but a hard habit to break.
6. Keep your personal life separate from work. I agree. My job has never defined who I am. Still, its nice to hear what people are doing outside of work.
7. Don’t talk about politics and religion. The only think is these days there is a deep divide between people on these topics.
8. Work a strict 9-5 schedule. Whatever.
9. Mailing thank you notes. Man this hasn’t been a thing for decades, has it?
10. Never move back home. I’m glad I never did. Pretty sure my kids don’t want to, but they’d always be welcome.
11. Stick to what works.
12. Respect authority without questions. Interesting that this is a thing, yet so many saying this very thing trust and vote for obviously corrupt government authorities who are not looking out for these voter’s best interests, not the best interests of our nation.
13. Always answer the phone. This was a thing before caller ID.
