Dawgs Dominate Tennessee

The game couldn’t have started worse for Georgia. Terrible decision by Bennett to not fall on the ball. Later several of his throws were thrown in traffic. But when pressured Stetson used his speed to run away from the more athletic defender.

Florida lost to woeful A&M. The Aggies were disorganized, undisciplined, and inconsistent - yet still won. The announcers kept waiting for the defensive lineman, a transfer from UGA, to make a play. The guy who says the GA/FL game is “personal”. Should’ve taken the A&M game more personally.

Not much social distancing in College Station.

Bad sequence for UGA. Bennett takes the fourth down snap but doesn’t gain the first down. Looked like the play had been blown dead, but the penalty was a live ball foul. Then the Vols push-off isn’t called, and a second fluke TD ties the game. Poor decisions are keeping Tennessee in the game. Then a needless unsportsmanlike conduct penalty contributed to another Volunteer TD drive.

Dawgs drive to end the half, going for it on 4th & goal with one second remaining. Should've kicked a field goal. The 23 point margin of victory should've been 33 points. As the stats show, UGA completely dominated the game - with a 5th string QB not having his best day. With Alabama allowing 40+ points to Ole Miss, next week's showdown in Tuscaloosa is certainly winnable.

LSU lost to Mizzou. Crazy year. At least Oklahoma beat Texas in overtime.

Clemson easily handled Miami. The officials blew a crucial call, ruling Bo Nix's obvious backwards pass incomplete, virtually handing victory to Auburn. Arkansas shudda won.

JOHNNY MIZE [SABR Bio] was born, died and is buried in the same Georgia town that had a population of fewer than 1,000 people when he was born and just over 1,000 when he died. Mize is from Demorest, Georgia.  A Memorial Bridge in town is named for him. In his first ten seasons in the majors, he never played in the postseason—in his final five, he won five World Series rings. The Cardinals went to the World Series nine times - 1926-46. They did not, however in the six years Mize played for them 1936-41. He played for NYG 1942-49 but missed three of those seasons in the military. NYG went to the WS in ’37 and then not again until ’51.  On 22-Aug-1949, NYY bought Mize for $40,000. He played with them until ’53 and in every one of those years NYY won the WS.  It’s the longest string of championships in baseball history.

He has two nicknames, both size-related, one of which applied equally to a certain five-time National League All-Star. Mize was known as “Big Jawn” and “Big Cat.”  The latter also became the nickname of Andres Galarraga.
