Friday I drove Ceil up an hour north of Asheville
to meet artist Stanley Anderson at his studio outside of Burnsville.
We've been collecting his work for the past 30 years.
After taking a winding road through the mountains for almost 30 minutes, we took a smaller side road for another mile to Anderson's driveway.
Ceil got this mug for Shivonne. Typical of Anderson's work.
No two pieces are exactly alike.
Several of the artists lived in quaint cottages
far out in the mountains, like this one.
We visited the school
where Ceil had taken classes almost 40 years ago.
I spoke to the artist who made these pots out of 14 gauge carbon steel. He buys his tool steel from our shop in Chattanooga, Southern Tool Steel.
Stetson led the Dawgs to a convincing win over Tennessee. Wasn't impressed by the throws made by the Vol QB's - so many quick passes out to the receiver out where he'd lined up. Anyone can do that. Saw that Ole Miss QB doing the same thing. Bennett is so much better than that.
Yates back in at QB for Tech.
But yet another week of the Jackets not being able to win.
After surrendering a touchdown on the opening kickoff,
Clemson outscored UConn 44-3.
As usual, nice all purple uniforms.
As usual, not so nice QB play.
Saturday afternoon Ceil drove down to visit Shivonne.
to the Braves season ticketholder play day.
Four straight division championships.
The lineup from game six of the World Series.
A chilly day in the shade,
but in the bright sunshine I was sweating.
