You're a Good Man, Sam Baldwin

When Kristin Chenowith appeared on NBC’s Live with Hoda & Jenna last week to promote her new album “Happiness is Christmas”, host Hoda referred to it as a “holiday” album. Chenowith received permission from original composer David Benoit to re-write the classic song “Happiness Is…” from the musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” into a Christmas song.

Country singer Josh Brown proposed to Chenowith in the Rainbow Room of NYC’s Rockefeller Center – the same place Walter proposed to Annie in Sleepless in Seattle.

While a great movie, when you get right down to it, there are several unlikeable characters in Sleepless in Seattle that you wouldn’t want to spend the rest of your life with, starting with (sadly) the lovely Annie. Also both kids, Walter, Sam’s date, Rosie, and maybe even Rita.

Speaking of Sleepless in Seattle, supposedly the movie soundstage can be seen in the background of the Empire State Building observation deck scene.

Denison: Satan has deluded many into believing there is no afterlife at all. For those who do believe there is life after death, many do not believe hell is real. But for those who do believe that "it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment" (Hebrews 9:27), Satan’s strategy is to render death less threatening by using medical advances to mask its ever-present reality.

BILL DICKEY [SABR Bio] always had a steady, friendly non-confrontational mien off the field. However, come game time, he was as a fierce a competitor as any. On 05-Jul-1932, in the first game of a twin-bill at Washington, in the bottom of the 7th Washington’s rightfielder Carl Reynolds, on 3rd base, broke for the plate on a suicide squeeze.  When the bunt was missed Reynolds returned to base safely as third-baseman Joe Sewell misplayed Dickey’s throw. Reynolds headed for home, this time barreling into Dickey, who had dropped Sewell’s return throw.  Dickey thought Reynolds had deliberately tried to injure him, so as Reynolds was returning to the plate to make sure he had touched it, Dickey clocked him square in the jaw, breaking it in two places.  AL president Will Harridge fined Dickey $1,000 and suspended him for 30 days.  Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert & GM Ed Barrow appealed the fine and suspension but they were upheld. The Yankees began the tradition of retiring uniform numbers with Lou Gehrig’s 4. They knew Dickey and Yogi Berra had worn 8, so They retired both!  Dickey’s nickname was “The man nobody knows”, as listed in Baseball-Reference.

Drama? The online posting for the Braves hat I ordered is no longer available, though the same site does still offer several similar hats for sale. What happened? I think I saw where over 40 hats were ordered. Did this overwhelm the company? Where they all Braves caps that were ordered? My order still seems to be processing. We shall see.
