Update: Georgia State Baseball Stadium

Looks like Georgia State will be squeezing both the new baseball and softball stadiums next to each other on the footprint of old Atlanta Stadium. Click here for the artist's renderings and story. Baseball will be moved slightly south toward the football stadium. The Hank Aaron memorial will be in the left field corner of the baseball stadium, the rightfield corner of the softball field - pretty much in the exact spot where Tom House caught Hank's 715th home run. More renderings here. Kind of old stories, but I just saw newer drawings a few weeks ago.

What were you doing 36 years ago tonight? October 17, 1989. At 8 pm Jeopardy went off, and the World Series pregame broadcast game on. Ceil and I were on the couch watch. Athletics at Giants. Highlights from previous games, and the afternoon view from Candlestick Park. Then the broadcast went off the air for a moment – the Loma Prieta earthquake had just struck San Francisco. We watched Al Michaels coverage for the rest of the night. Last night he was announcing the Steelers @ Bengals game.

Question of the Day: who is your favorite sports friendship?

Some answers: (1) Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, and Billy Martin, (2) Yogi Berra and Phil Rizzuto, (3) Clayton Kershaw and Matthew Stafford, and (4) Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward.

Last week after the funeral C had a busy week with the girlies. Monday she had the girlies all day and they slept over.

Friday C went to across town to Dekalb Farmers Market and Cheesecake Factory. Saturday C was on the go all day. In the AM she went to a farmers market in Sandy Springs then Whole Foods. She cooked all afternoon getting ready for the pizza party. Sunday C skipped church to recover, and napped on the couch until 330. She needed it. Then she went to Whole Foods and Publix, then cooked lasagna for 3 hours. I washed and folded three loads of laundry and taken Winnie for a walk.

Monday: left work shortly after five and drove home to help C with the girlies. They are so much but, but a handful. At one point they were sneaking into the kitchen. I could tell they were up to something – they were sneaking bites from the loaf of bread that C had baked. Leftover lasagna for supper. Millie ate a bunch. I slept on the couch to keep Winnie from roaming around. Slept good – didn’t wake up until C came downstairs at 645. Shivonne was right behind her.

Tuesday: drove down to Conyers and had a nice meeting at Evans. Made it home by 5 pm. Chili for supper. It was the 33rd anniversary of Sid Slid.

Wednesday I left work and drove home. Leftover lasagna for sup. Then to small group. Since we missed last week, we tried to cover four chapters in Genesis. The application: keep swimming. Don’t drift. Didn’t get home until ten. Didn’t feel like going straight to bed so me and Winnie stayed up a little.

Thursday: made it to the gym. Leo was out, so I had an easy day. Mowed up all the leaves when I got home.

In Back to the Future, when Marty McFly goes back to 1955, he plays a Chuck Berry guitar that was first manufactured in 1958.
