Shoes

ThisNext.com has me mesmerized with all the cool shoes people have posted there over the years. Here's my humble effort to re-create that.

On CloudMonster.
Didn't look so purple online, or in the store.
Meet my Pumas. April 2023.
Bought these wingtips for Anna's wedding.
adidas Boost golf shoes.
Comfortable, but why are the laces on the side?
An interesting pair of Vans. Reviews were mixed.
April 2023 adidas collection
Puma RSX Emoji. Super comfortable and supportive.
Found a pair at a price I couldn't refuse.
Black sneakers with white soles.
Bought my first pair of Cole Haans. Zerogrand II.
OOFO sport recovery slides
Puma Californias in red. Might have to get me another pair of these - the first pair I had tore up.
Saw these cool dude Vans spikeless golf shoes,
both in high top and low cut models.

I'm happy with my Nike Victory G Lite spikeless golf shoes.
Can wear them to work or around town.

Puma LQDcell. All lightweight nylon. Perfect for spring. Saw a pair and fell in love. Comfortable.
New Balance Fuelcore Coast. I bought a pair after I sold off similar-looking Nikes. Not good for running, but okay to kick around in.

Back in the early 90's Nike Icarus came in many different colorways. A very popular sneaker.
My favorite was this blue/grey/yellow.
Never was able to track down a pair for me.

Back in the early 90's I had a pair of the mostly white Nike Icarus.
Lightweight, simple, and comfortable.
Nike Epic React Flyknit Gunsmoke Crimson Dark Green Wolf Grey. More padding than most Nikes.
Nike Free RN Commuter 2018 Atmosphere Grey Vast. I like the slip-on style, but not the silvery finish nor the thin Free RN sole. Still, super cmfortable.

Ceil bought her some pink Vans Old Skool sneakers.
Scooped up a pair of adidas Alphabounces.
Not sure how comfortable they are.
Have my eye on a pair on Nike Blazers.
Not crazy about the green trim.
Discovered Puma Breakers after they sold out.
Not crazy about white slides. Navy is better.
You know how I like blue shoes.
Saw these adidas SC Premiere sneakers and thought they'd be great for work. They could be a little better looking. Maybe instead the black Puma Sampsons.
Pulled the trigger on these Puma RS-X3, with the super thick 1980's cushioning. Love them.

I'm a sucker for blue shoes, like these adidas Sambas.
Low profile but I like the white soles.
Puma RS-X3.
Would be a slimming sneaker to wear.
 Puma RS-X3 high-top. Nice.

Hoka One One Bondi 6. My new running shoe.
So much cushioning I'll only wear them to run in.
And the occasional Braves game.

Picked a pair of adidas Stan Smiths.
Navy tab on the back. Keepers.
Nike Air Trainer SC. Bo Jackson's sneakers. Should I keep or sell?
Merkmak men's leather casual shoes, for work.
Hoka men's Stinson Trail shoes; black red cyan.
 Nike Free RN shoes.
In the late 70's the cool players wore Nike Astro Grabbers.

Thought these brown Tretorns would be nice
to wear to work and church with kaikis.
Salomon XA Comp 7 in blue and black, my favorite colors. Had been looking for a pair of Salomons to be like Anna and Will. Sturdy and waterproof and warm. Great for winter or hiking.
Ceil used her end of school bonus money to buy these New Balance Free Foam Course running shoes, and she loves them.
Love my blue Nike Lunarlon 8's. Super comfortable.
Couldn't pass up this pair of old school varsity red Nike Blazer high-tops, though I haven't figured out where I will wear them.
Anna gave Will this pair of On running shoes for his birthday. They're supposed to be the most comfortable around. Will said they're ok, but they didn't change his life.

Matthew bought these to wear to work. Sometimes he wears them.

Matthew bought these old guys on line, but he's having a hard time keeping them from falling apart.
I needed a pair of white sneakers for the summer.
These go with my green St. Patrick's Braves jersey.

Converse Chuck Taylor low cuts.
Makes me look older. Shows off my thick ankles.
Air Jordan Eclipse Black Cement. To be worn with long pants, not shorts.
I love the look - except the huge logo on the heel.
Nike Metcon 2 Two Amplify Blue Monday Crossfit Training. Love the colors: blue, grey, and black. Not a fan of the thin sole.

I broke down and bought a pair of Saucony Ride 7's.
A lot to like, except the white inside sole (above)
doesn't match the outside (more black).
These FootJoy Greenjoys are modeled after classic racquetball shoes.
Thought these Reebok Sublite basketball shoes would be cool. Not so much.
Nike Air Max Craig Sager Edition
Nike Air Zoom Strong
Special edition Atlanta Olympics Nike Cross Trainers.
They look like something from 1996.
Bought Crocs. Sold Crocs.
Cole Hahn Zerogrand. $200 Crocs. Love.

Anna says these Solomon X-Mission 3W Trail Runners are the perfect shoe for camp.

islides.com sells some sweet shoes.
Nike Air Max 2013. Not my favorite, but I can't get away from these shoes. But these red ones don't look too bad.
Nike Air Speed Turf: Raiders Edition.
Worn by the pros. Worn by me.
Nike Air Zoom Flight 96 Olympic. I had a pair of these beauties, but have no idea what happened to them.
No I didn't. Another pair of black kicks.
Nike Zoom Crusader.
For Christmas Anna got this grey pair of Saucony DXN Trainers from Madewell.
As I often say, I couldn't pass up this cheap pair of Clarks Roar boots.

I'm liking my Nike Lunar Swingtip leather golf shoes better than my old adidas Adicross pair.
Altra Instinct 2.0. Love the colors and don't mind the dorky look (too much). They're kinda comfortable, except for the lack of heel cushioning. Got them for sale on eBay.
Matthew loves his cat Vans.
Thinking about picking up these 2014 True Linkswear Tour golf shoes, though they still look like big round Mickey Mouse shoes.
The softball cleats I wore back in the mid-1980's. Still have them 30 years later. Not sure why.
Anna got these New Balance 650's from Zappos for her birthday (2016).
My second pair of Nike Zoom Kobe Venomenon 4's, the black-university gold-laser crimson-dark grey. I liked the blue pair better - these look too much like hiking boots.
Back in the day I was a Nike Huarache early adopter. Now they've come back in a big way. Picked up this pair of Trainers, and I like them a lot.

While I love the color and look of my blue Jordan RCVRs, I'm thinking of selling them to thin my herd. That didn't stop me from picking up this equally nice black pair of size 11's.
Sketchers Mark Nason Gavin Oxford with fake Nike Lunarlite sole. Rarely do I walk into a store thinking I need a specific item, but this week as I got out of my car I thought "I need a new pair of brown shoes." I saw these supposedly comfortable shoes (which I could wear to work) but the yellow was just too much. Did I miss out?

Latest in my series of red shoes.
Ceil's mom, a shoe freak's shoe freak, bought these multi-colored Asics Gel-Noosa Tri 8's. Ceil's been wearing them these last few years.
I liked my orange-trimmed Nike LunarGlide+4 sneakers so much I got the same pair with lime green trim.
The Nike Air Zoom Turf Jet Retro's looks better in black with white trim.
Anna loves her Nike Sweet Classic leather high-tops.

Nike Zoom Speed TR2 looks like a Roshe from a distance. In black and white: my kind of shoe.
Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+ - my on again off again romance with red shoes is back on. While I prefer red with white trim, I'll hang on to this red and black pair for a while.
Lands End fleece-lined Fello Croc. Sturdy for a Croc. We have yet to fall in love.
Nike Free Ace Leather Men's Shoe.
Like the Socfly with laces. $200.00.

Nike Air Max 2013 black sport turquoise. After passing on the blues ones a few months ago I was itching for a pair. Also passed on an all black pair with purple trim, but the teal trim and spackle looks much better.
Ateliers Arthur Men's Padre (java / gargoyle): a men's lifestyle sneaker.
My new go-to shoes.

Nike Air Zoom Turf Jet Retro. Worn by who some call the greatest basketball player ever (LeBron), the greatest ever quarterback (Farve), and the greatest ever running back (Barry Sanders, though I prefer Herschel). A sturdy, decent looking shoe that would be warm in winter and good-looking with jeans. I passed on a pair that didn't look as good as this one.

Nike released limited edition replicas of the self-lacing shoes Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future 2. Some of sold for more than $20,000.00. Some of the proceeds went to fund research for a cure for Parkinson's Disease - the disease Michael J Fox suffers from.
So I bought another pair of gum-soled Puma TT Supers. These are black, so maybe I'll keep them longer.
Matthew wanted black Vans. I found him what appears to be a vintage pair called the Maverick. Not too shabby.

After four intramural football games in two days, Will's four-year old baseball-style cleats fell apart. A teammate directed him to these state-of-the-art football cleats.

Hoha One One 2013 Mafate 3 trail running shoes - aka Herman Munster's running shoes. A look only I could love (also Andy Stanley, who owns a pair).
Designed by none other by Kanye West, the adidas Yeezy looks like a cool version of the Nike Roshe Run.
Altra Olympus 1.5 trail running shoes. More toe box room than the Hoka but slightly less padding. Really weird looking, which is right up my alley.
Was tempted by this pair of Air Max 2013 but passed - they were just too blueberry blue.
Nike Socfly Black is another shoe I could wear to work.
Hoka One One Conquest: I stumbled across these running shoes and was transfixed. That they came in my favorite colors (blue and black, not the yellow) was icing on the cake. But when I tried them on I felt like I was standing on the roof of a building.
Anna ordered these Nike Lunartempo Persian  Violet/Flash Lime/Light Aqua/White for her going to college shoes. Not a bad choice.
True Linkswear limited edition Phoenix Open golf shoes. Only 250 pairs were made. The brand Ryan Moore represents.
Mens adidas Adicross Street spikeless golf shoes. I'd been wanting to join the spikeless club, and these black beauties should do the trick. Mine have black laces, though white looks ok as well.

I'd been on the lookout for a low-cut Kobe shoe, preferably in blue. These Nike Zoom Kobe Venomenon 4s Green Abyss/Sea Spray/Anthracite dropped in February 2014, and could be a shoe I can wear to Turner Field without fear of being mugged.
Nike LunarGlide+ 4 Midnight Fog/ Orange
Wide sole with more cushioning than the Nike Free. Will this be a Nike shoe I can run in?
The good-looking New Balance ML1320 looks like a Nike Roshe Run knock off.
Nike Court Majestic.
I couldn't pass up the simplicity and green trim.
Nike Roshe Run Slip On Rio de Janeiro: I have long coveted the simplicity of the Nike Roshe Run. On a rare trip to the mall I stumbled across the wonderful slip-ons. They dropped in May 2014 so my chances are slim.
Kid on the bus today had on a pair of canvas KD7's, which I had not seen before. Simple and sweet.
These Millers are keepers. Also from Native. Tag says to avoid direct sunlight. Could be tough.
Been looking for a plastic pair of shoes for some time. Thursday night I found two. Both were new Native brand shoes with names related to Ceil. I'm selling these Jeffersons.
Nike Free 4.0: bought them to sell, but I like them so much I might just keep them. Nah. Selling on eBay.
Columbia Veracruz: I needed a pair of boat shoes. Can wear them with my Columbia shirts and pants.
adidas Italia: a cool shoe I wore back in the day.
Chaco Pedshed Gunnison: gonna be fun to wear these this winter with jeans and other long pants.
Clarks Blakeney: glad to have a brand new pair of this well built loafer.
These adidas shell toe golf shoes may not be the most recent pair to hit the stores, but they're a fun shoe to have.
As much as I loved Nike's Air Huaraches, I let a teenager buy these Black/Pine Green Frees. Not my color.
The Nike KD7 was just released on 6.26.14.
Puma TT Super Shoes: another low-profile, thin-soled shoes that looks great. I added an extra inner sole for more cushioning, and it was just ok. Sold on eBay.
Nike Free 3.0.
Good-looking, but too lightweight for me.
One day I'll stop buying low profile black shoes. Sold on eBay.
Columbia Sunvent Shoes
Look better than their loafers.
My Clark's Bushacre Chukas are stylish,
but totally lacked cushioning and the strings didn't tie tight. Sold on eBay.
Shouldn't have, but I pounced on these 2009 Nike Air Max I's. Thicker sole than the black/orange New Balance 310's I have, which I like. In real life these Air Max's look simpler than the pair pictured. Sold them for thirty bucks on eBay.
Jumped on the adidas outdoor boat CC lace water shoe too late - my favorite colors are sold out. Some models come with an interesting pattern on the toe, like these.

Nike KD VI: After years of only so-so basketball shoe styles, a few good-looking models have finally come out. I wouldn't mind tracking down a pair of these Kevin Durants.
Gray and blue. I couldn't pass up this cheap pair of Reebok Zig Energy Silver Marine running shoes.

Jordan Two3 Retro Relay 7 Vii Slip-on Low Top. Selling for $120.00 on eBay. Found a pair of size 12's that I could wear to work,
but they're too tight across the top.
Sold on eBay. January 2014.

Are Muck Shoes the brand Jase Robertson wears on Duck Dynasty?
Lots of upgrades on the latest New Balance 990 running shoe. Couldn't pass up a great deal on a pair I'll probably be wearing in next year's Peachtree Road Race.

I'd always been interested in the Jordan Trunner line of shoes. Came across this pair of RCVR shoes in my favorite color, so I snapped them up. A great winter shoe. Keegan Bradley and President's Cup team member Michael Jordan wear them on the course.

Picked up this pair of New Balance 310 running shoes. Wore them to the UGA/North Texas game and my feet and legs felt great all day. Lightweight and comfortable. Not great with shorts (too dark) but great with jeans.

Most water shoes look pretty nerdy, but these Speedo Hydraterra Strap shoes supposedly "turn the heads of both women and men." I can see why.
Call me a sucker for red Pumas. Though rumored to be too narrow, I'm going to have to drive up to the new outlets in Woodstock to check out these Yutaka Light Fashion Sneakers.
Will these Puma Liga indoor soccer shoes
be the red shoes I've always wanted? Nope. Sold on eBay.
Picked up this pair of comfortable Crocs Athens flip flops, just in time for the beach.
I have grey and black 993's,
but was happy to add a navy pair to the collection.

Nike Dunk High were a pre-Air Jordan shoe.
Had a white/royal pair that Will wore.
Nike TW13: They look better when Tiger wears them. Found this exact pair in Will's size and he loves them.
Saw these nice green/yellow adidas Gazelles in my size, but didn't pull the trigger. Maybe if the stripes had been white.
These New Balance MC851 tennis shoes caught my eye. Love all the navy trim and the sleek design. Wore for a while then sold on eBay.
Nike Roshe Run

Finally found a good photo of a pair of brown leather high-top Nike Air Mocs. I rarely wore my pair of size 12's so I sold them on eBay.
Got a pair of Jack Purcels for the kids,
but they didn't wear them.
Love my black New Balance 992B's,
though they look like something George Constanza would wear.
Puma Voltaic looks great, but I'm not crazy about the feel. Sold on eBay.
Air Jordan 9's were one of the best looking of the series.
Always loved these Puma Elites.
Tech football players used to wear them in games.
I so enjoy these canvas Puma sneakers.
Enjoyed these shiny silver Nike Air Zoom Moire running shoes
One year Will picked out these
Nike Shox Monster Metal baseball shoes.
Will liked these adidas turf shoes
better than his East Cobb Reebok turfs.
Haven't had many chances to wear
my adidas Tour Traxion golf shoes much.
When everyone else wore black cleats,
Matthew insisted on wearing these white Nike Keystones.
Anna picked out these Nike Air Relentless running shoes.
adidas Nastase Millennium Navy

Converse One Star 2000.
Everyone needs a pair of blue suede shoes.
adidas Rod Laver tennis shoes
I like my black pair of Reebok Fury Insta-Pump sneakers
much better than the neon yellow pair I've had for years.

The yellow Furys were recently re-released for Jackie Chan.
The Furys reminded me of the old Nike Air Prestos.
I had an all blue pair.

These Converse Dr J's used to all the rage.

Matthew's first serious running shoe: Asics GT-2170.

Opinionated Turkish designer, Hussein Chalayan,
injects his avant-garde inspiration into
Puma'sAutumn/Winter 2011 Collection
and most notably produces the Urban Swift moving sneaker.

The Urban Swift is a reinvention
of the Puma Clyde shoe structure
by altering the shoe's sides and back panel
to create the illusion as if the shoe is moving,
an idea drawn from Hussein Chalayan's
Spring/Summer 2009 titled, Inertia.

I love the way my grey suede
Timberland City Adventure Front Country Slip On Shoes look, but they're not super comfortable to wear while walking around. I guess they're more for lounging about.

Merrell's Winter Moc were a good jeans shoe.
These Cole Haan Santa Barbara loafers have Nike Air soles. Just what I was looking for.
Matthew received these Converse Weapon EVO basketball shoes at a 2012 summer camp.

These And1 Downtime Slips were featured in an old issue of SLAM Magazine. I could've gotten away with wearing these to work.
Saw these at the Puma Store at Lenox several years ago.
Should've snapped up the orange pair I came across one day.

Can't argue about a decent pair on vintage Nike Blazers.

Converse Weapons: Worn by Bird and Magic.
Lang outgrew his pair, and gave them to me.

Had several pair of Puma Californias:
Red trimmed with White, and Grey trimmed with Red.
But when they get old, the colored sole cracks big time.

As a young teen I wore several pair of suede Pro Keds, similar to the ones worn by Pistol Pete.
Navy, Red, Off-White.
Saw Oglethorpe play Mercer in these gold babies.

Puma Suedes. Bought a red pair on sale,
that's fun to wear from time to time.

Puma's Diamond Strategist Baseball Turf Shoes,
for coaches (Or warmups)
I first saw Nike's Air Huarache at The Super Show,
and have loved them ever since.
Wore a pair until they wore out.
In 2012 Nike re-released them.

adidas Pistol Pete basketball shoes. Could've bought a pair, but I probably wouldn't have ever worn them.
I've always loved Adidas Gazelles,
but never found a great pair on sale.
Adidas Samba: a classic shoe.
Glad Matthew picked up the habit.
When the Nike Air Flight Lite came out, I had to get a pair.
Turned out the clear plastic sole was slippery on the court.
I've always been fascinated with Nike Air Mocs.
So much so, I own three pairs.
Will wore these classic Nike spikes during his senior season.
Probably a good idea that I didn't buy these striped Nikes.
Clarks Romme Boot: on my wish list, or something similar.
Puma Pele Brasil: though old and worn,
it's one of my favorites to wear.
One of my favorite Air Jordans.
Matthew wore them his first basketball season.
Nike Hyperdunk:
After several years of lousy designs, these look great.
Matthew wore these his second basketball season.
Then I got my own royal pair.
An inexpensive pair of boots I looked at, but didn't buy.

nike tennis shoes have to be breathable and flexible in the entire process. Every movement in the sport requires different kinds of approaches to the ball.

Great article! Thanks for sharing I added some thoughts on trainer shoes sometime ago
