First Bite: McDonalds Apple Fritters

First bite: McDonalds apple fritters. Had a BOGO, so I gave it a try. A waste of money. Dry. Small. Twice the price of a better fritter at RaceTrac or Publix. Seems like everything McDonalds copies is worse and more expensive.

I eat too much fast food. Recent examples: Taco Bell dollar menu. Kroger frozen pizza. Free pizza and soft drinks from RaceTrac. McDonalds 2 for $2. McDonalds BOGO fritters. CookOut dollar milkshakes. Free and/or BOGO Circle K Polar Pops. Wendy’s value menu. McDonalds free fries coupon. CiCis Pizza. Free RaceTrac ice cream. Dollar Tree Kool-Aid. Kroger Big K colas & PB&J.

Since the Cubs didn't play yesterday they celebrated Jackie Robinson today. The Braves wore their same red #42 jerseys for the second straight day.

Ronald Acuna is an amazing player, and I'm falling behind in compiling the most amazing things he's doing. Sunday night he beat out a routine grounder to short. Yesterday he tagged up and scored on a bloop fly to deep short. Today he scored from second on a ball that never left the infield. An OPS of .800 is above average, .900 is elite, 1.000 amazing. Acuna's OPS was 1.500.

Sold bobbleheads to pay for two used pairs of sneakers on eBay, including these springtime Pumas below. Have several pairs of shoes to sell on eBay, that I’d bought at thrift stores. I get Amazon gift cards for participating in several online focus group communities. Gonna buy a much needed blender with some of the proceeds.

Basketball player photos saved on my laptop, that pop up as screensavers. All were previously posted on this blog.

Hawks owner Tony Ressler with wife Jamie Gertz.

Did not realize Ressler is a minority owner of the Brewers. Had forgotten that Spanx founder Sara Blakely was a part owner of the Hawks, along with her husband Jesse Itzler, and Grant Hill. Former Senator Kelly Loeffler sold the Atlanta Dream to a former player who had opted out to focus on social justice. Must be a lucrative field.

Hillbilly Elegy author JD Vance wrote how most rural Americans don’t understand how social connections lead to upward mobility. Vance didn’t know how to fill out college financial aid forms until a stint in the Marines gave him the knowledge and confidence to enter college, excel, and go on to law school. Even there he felt like an out of place foreigner. I had a similar experience, moving from public school Macon to Georgia Tech and Atlanta. Even now I find myself in situations and conversations where I feel out of place.

ATLEE HAMMAKER  [B-R Bio]  a switch-hitting lefty, drafted in the first round by an AL team, led the majors in ERA playing for a NL club in just his third season in the Bigs. Drafted #21 overall by KC in 1979, then traded to SFG for Vida Blue after his rookie year in the majors. In his only All-Star appearance, Hammaker became the only pitcher in All-Star history to surrender a grand slam. It was Fred Lynn who hit it in the 1983 Midsummer Classic. People familiar with his first name might be students of 20th-century British politics. Clement Atlee was Britain’s Prime Minister 1945 to 1951.
