Friday I stayed late at the office way past 6 pm, paying bills and trying to figure out some pressing family issues. C served baked chicken.
Saturday: up early to play golf. Teed off at 7 am. 65 degrees. Perfect weather. Played okay.
1. Hit two good drives off the tee. Hit 2 of three approach shots onto the green. “Par”.
2. Hit 8 iron off the tee, so it didn’t make it to the green. Two of 3 chips rolled off the back of the green. Double.
3. Hit one tee shot left, one right, then the third onto the green. Par.
4. Hit two tee shots to the left – but hit one 8 iron that rolled to a foot of the hole. Shot of the year. I'm thrilled when I hit it somewhere on the green. And yes, I sank the birdie putt.
5. Hit a tee shot low, but it rolled to the fringe. Mulligan headed toward the street, where a walker directed me to the ball. Since he was watching, I poked a decent chip that rolled just off the side of the green. Made two decent lag putts. “Par”.
6. As I teed off on 6 I noticed a golfer finishing up the 4th hole, playing fast, so I quickened my pace. Starting hitting one or two shots instead of 3 or 4. Great tee shot settled just past the 150 yard marker. Hit a worm burner that got a decent roll. Hit three chips but only one stayed on the sandy green.Bogey.
7. Hit a good tee shot most of the way up the hill. Fairway shot under my tee shot and launched it high, so it clipped the tree branch and didn’t travel as far. Approach fell short of the green. Chip. Two putt. Bogey.
9. Drew a nice long 3 wood up the right side of the fairway. As usual, it never gets as far up the hill as I’d like. Chipped to the back of the green. Two putt for another bogey.
After golf I picked up Goose. Anna and Caleb were playing golf. Later I got a haircut, got some wise council on pressing matters from my friend Lee, and got a free milkshake at Friendly’s. I’d never been before.
Syracuse took it to Georgia Tech from the first play. Orangemen are always tough at home. Jackets couldn’t catch up. Always seems to happen when they get ranked. I would’ve preferred Tech lose to FSU and beat Syracuse.
Texas has an easy time beating Michigan in Ann Arbor.
UGA’s QB Carson Beck threw for 5 TD’s, tying the school record shared by Stetson Bennett. Backup Gunnar Stockton looked good as well. UGA running game looks good.
SC beat Kentucky. #5 Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois. NIL’s head coach cried after the game.
Dabo must’ve coached his heart out this week. The last thing they needed was to lay an egg against usually tough App State. QB Klubnik needed a good game to get some confidence. Tigers up 28-0 in the first quarter and Dabo’s calling flea flicker trick plays. Up 35-0 after one quarter (a record), on pace to win 140-0. We’ll see how they do next week. Mountaineers looked like a high school team in their black paint, but their striped jersey sleeves looked old school. Tigers up 56-13 at the half. The backups played the second half.
Colorado just isn’t good. Making Nebraska look good. Gonna be a long year for Deion.
Ate dinner at Nahm, one of the best Thai restaurants in Atlanta. I got the pineapple chicken stir fry, Very good. Since we were celebrating our anniversary they brought us a complimentary dessert.
