Don Head: Get Well

Don Head is in the hospital with a blood clot in his lung. He's out of the woods and into a regular room, which is good news. Get well, big guy!

I watched the Heisman show. Bama WR Smith was deserving. He had a great year. Heard one fan say the Falcons should draft him with the #4 pick. I’d say the Birds have more pressing needs than another high-priced receiver. ESPN did a good job profiling the four finalists. Smith had the great year. Bama QB Jones played many sports as a kid before settling on football. Gator QB Trask threw for a lot of touchdowns. But ESPN told how Trevor Lawrence had become a great leader and voice not only for the Clemson football team, but also for all of college football during the pandemic. Not just to play games but also about the strife bringing down the nation. Lawrence also organized hunger relief efforts in South Carolina and Georgia.

Monday: left work at 5:15 and headed to small group. Arrived early so I drove thru Wendy’s for supper. Home by 8:30 and in bed shortly after 10 hours 8 minutes of sleep. been doing a better job of wearing my mask all night. The last two nights I made it all through the night without having to get out of bed one time.

Left the office Tuesday and picked up the Jeep from the shop. I’d had them give it the old once over before I put it up for sale. Got home and Matthew showed up. He was in the neighborhood to vote. He picked up a few items, then drove me back to Roswell to get my other car.

Supper was a Honey Baked Ham & cheese sandwich. Also a PB&J. Went to bed before ten pm.

Went home Wednesday and watched the news. Depressing. At least baseball starts up next month.

Was going to watch Wheel of Fortune and the last week of Jeopardy, but it was preempted by NBC News. Later I started to watch Season 2 episode 1 of Zoe’s Extraordinary Playlist, a great program if you like singing, dancing, and choreography.

Still wearing my mask pretty much all night, and sleeping through instead of having to get out of bed. Not thrilled with my new sleep app on my phone/watch. May try another one.

Thursday: left work at five. Needed to get to the East Cobb Library by 5:45 to check out a book for C. Made it by 5:50 and was okay. Had to drive a little faster than usual, which I hated to do on wet roads. Then I picked up a few items at next door Dollar Tree, and a cool Colombia PFG shirt next door at Goodwill. Made it home by 6:30.

Supper was spaghetti and meatballs, with grilled vegetables. Had several phone conversations and cleaned up the kitchen, so it was 9 pm before I could crash on the couch. Watched Jeopardy and a Hallmark movie, and played on my laptop until after 11 pm. Slept until 6:30 am, later than usual.

What does Margaritaville have on the menu? Stuff like Applebee’s – burgers and chicken and salads?? We’ve never been.

RUSTY STAUB [SABR Bio] is the only player to hit a home run every year from 1963 to 1985. That span was every year of his career. The most in a season was 30 (1970 with the Expos); the least was one (1984 & 85 with the Mets). Although the history of the origin of the use of batting gloves in baseball is a bit murky, uniform researcher Paul Lukas tell us that Staub was the first to use two at the same time in every game. Staub had a minimum one hundred hits wearing each of six different major league uniforms. Hit totals:

0178 Colt 45’s,

0614 Astros,

0531 Expos,

0582 Tigers,

0102 Rangers

0709 Mets

2,716 career total

Jesus said in Matthew 7:1-3

1. Judge not, lest you be judged.

2. For with the judgement you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
