Hail to the Wild Hogs?

The Redskins released a list of possible names they might change to, and are polling their fans. Possibilities include: Monarchs, Presidents, Wild Hogs, Riders, Capital City Football Club, Redwolves, Aviators, Wayfarers, Ambassadors, Griffins, Warriors, Armada, Rising, Swifts, Commanders, Pilots, Rubies, Renegades, or DC Football Club. I only like Redwolves or Wild Hogs.

Thursday: I worked past 6:15.

C turned on a weird movie “Song One” starring Anne Hathaway and Mary Steenburgen. Not the normal Hallmark Channel stuff.

Finished J D Vance’s semi-autobiography Hillbilly Elegy, about life in rural poor Kentucky. Best book I’ve read in some time. Going to be doing some research into some of the stuff he said. Many people blame the government or other people for bad decisions they themselves had made. Most rural Americans don’t understand how social connections lead to upward mobility. Vance didn’t know how to fill out college financial aid forms until a stint in the Marines gave him the knowledge and confidence to enter college, excel, and go on to law school. Even there he felt like an out of place foreigner. Didn't realize Ron Howard made the book into a Netflix movie starring Amy Adams and Glenn Close. I'll have to watch, but no way it can be better than the book.

The US’s UN ambassador tells the United Nations that the US is a racist nation. Even if, is it really wise to air our dirty laundry out for everyone to see? Meanwhile China keeps building aircraft carriers.

Glen Close and Amy Adams are both great in the movie. The book is on my list to read!
