Winnie and Okie

Winnie got to play with Okie on Saturday, and had a big time. Will hit a golf ball in his specious back yard.

Herschel over the top, his junior year.
Someone compared Bo Jackson to Walter Payton. Bo scored 18 NFL touchdowns. Payton scored 91. Herschel scored 85 NFL TDs, plus a few more before that.
As a freshman against Notre Dame's top-rated defense,
who hadn't allowed a hundred yard rusher all year,
in the Sugar Bowl, for the national championship,
with a separated shoulder - Herschel gained 152 yards.
Local Burger Kings that have recently closed: (1) Johnson Ferry at Lower Roswell, (2) Holcomb Bridge at Spaulding, (3) Peachtree Industrial at Pleasant Hill, (4) Alpharetta Highway at Hembree. Also several Bojangles and Moe’s. The only time a Chickfila closes is when they build a better on in its place.

Denison: today parents are forced more than ever before in American history to make a choice between popular culture and biblical morality. I cannot think of a single claim made uniquely by Christianity that is not under attack on some level by our anti-Christian culture. Those who follow Jesus and want our children to follow Jesus will need to be more courageous and diligent than ever. God tells us that his words "shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise" (Deuteronomy 6:6–7). Christians are under greater attack for our faith than ever, but the greatest victims of our culture's rejection of biblical morality are the millions of people who are being deceived. As our culture uses Pride Month to proclaim that "love is love," let's use it to teach our children that "God is love" (1 John 4:8). Let's teach them to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) with courage and grace.

Denison’s devotionals are long and detailed and sometimes a bunch to digest. When I see a good passage I might copy and paste it, then edit out words and sentences to make it more readable without losing the main point. That passage above was originally like six long paragraphs that I trimmed down to one. I’m trying to savor the 70 resolutions of Jonathan Edwards as well. Trying to trim them down from a long 2700 words to make them more readable. At night I might read an article, and I’ve started emailing most articles to myself. Later I’ll combine them all in the same post.

ANDY MESSERSMITH  [SABR Bio] surrendered the first base hit to a Texas Rangers batter, on 15-Apr-1972 when catcher Hal King hit a single off him, but not until the 7th inning. Andy would have pitched the second no-hitter for the Atlanta Braves but lost it on a single in the ninth inning, on 04-Jun-1976 against the Expos. The hit was by Pepe Mangual.  ATL’s first no-hitter was by Phil Niekro 05-Aug-1973. Messersmith was the first Dodger pitcher to win a Gold Glove, in 1974 & 75 for LAD.
