Showdown

Big showdown coming up between coworkers. Buck pitched for Georgia College in Milledgeville. Big Ben quit baseball after his sophomore year in high school. For some reason he got rooked into having to hit one of three pitches off Buck. Photos and video to come.

Typed this post up, then things got crazy. Then I had computer problems. Too busy to edit and organize into a larger post with yesterday's stuff.

At year end 2008 my bad boss was fired, and I inherited his used mouse and keyboard. This was an upgrade for me. Several years later my then boss Tim got a new keyboard and mouse, and handed down his old mouse and keyboard to me. Over 5 years ago. Eventually the letters wore off that keyboard, so I had to type from memory. Today my old keyboard of Tim’s finally gave out. Coworker Renee had spare used keyboards stashed in the downstairs supply closet. She went to get me one. When she moved the box she discovered a new keyboard and mouse that she’d gotten and stashed away.

Took me a few minutes to get them set up since I’m not a techie, but now I’m all set up with a new keyboard and mouse. Something good for a change.

The new Hawks jerseys have one number on the front
and a different number on the back.
 Right player wrong uniform.
Jalen Hurts in his new Eagles uniform.
Jake Fromm in his Bills uniform.
This year's Washington uniforms look similar to the old Redskins unis.
 Van Brocklin sets his charges.
Getting used to the new Falcons helmets.
Hope the get to use them.
Ed Asner is 90 and still making movies. Well Generation Gap was made back in 2008 when he was 82. A star studded cast, including Ralph Waite from The Waltons, Rue McClanahan from Golden Girls, and Alex Black from Ned's Declassified.

Left work Thursday at five and headed to the dealership. Got inside with my mask on right when a big thunderstorm hit. We did some preliminary work inside. By the time we finished the sky was clear and the parking lot starting to dry. Went around looking at cars. Anna arrived from work at 630. Test drove a car. Didn’t leave until after 830. Got home after nine. Went back Friday evening to buy the car.

ROGER CRAIG  [SABR Bio] managed the team whose first home World Series game in 27 years was postponed by force majeure. Game 3 of the 1989 WS in San Francisco was prevented from starting by the Loma Prieta earthquake. It was so powerful that it measured 6.9 on the Richter Scale and caused more than 60 deaths and incurred more than $5,000,000,000 worth of damage. Craig is the last pitcher to lose at least 20 games in each of consecutive seasons. Lost 24 games in 1962 and 22 in 1963 for the Mets, the only two years he played for them. He only had one other season with double-figure losses: eleven in 1956 for Brooklyn. He was the last former pitcher to manage a team to the World Series in the 20th century, in 1989 when the Giants lost to Oakland. As a pitcher in the majors, he had suffered through a personal 18-game losing streak, and changed his uniform number to break the 90-day winless skein. On 9-Aug-1963, Craig made a desperate attempt at changing his run of bad luck by changing his uniform number from 38 to 13.  At the time, he was one loss shy of the major league record of 19 consecutive losses, which led to this desperate action.  It worked!  He won the game.  He recalled that, “11 of those times it took a shutout to beat me.”

1978: freshman Tech students (aka Rats) form the base of the T for the team to run through to take the field. I was a sophomore that year. The Jackets beat Alonzo Highsmith and the Miami Hurricanes, coached by Howard Snellenberger.
First MLB player to wear Vans.
 Tough crowd.
