World Without Grace

Longtime Reds announcer Thom Brennaman uttered a homophobic slur. Later he issued a heartfelt apology, but was suspended by the Reds. Looks like his long career is over.

The world we live in these days, a world without grace. Make one mistake and you are condemned to be suspended and lose a long career. Sure, what Brennaman said was wrong. He deserved punishment. Had Brennaman slammed Christianity there would be no outcry. Also yesterday Anderson Cooper tore into the My Pillow Guy Mike Lindell, who is quite public with his Christianity. Would Anderson be as hard on Ellen or Oprah? Quite the double standard.

Had to run and errand yesterday afternoon that took several hours. Came back and worked late to make up my time. Then I was helping Anna with something via text, which is slow for me. God really worked some things out.
Late supper of spaghetti and meatballs. Last week Ceil had cooked extra and put some in the freezer. Also steamed broccoli. I wound up putting my broccoli over the noodles and piled the meatballs and sauce on top. Very good. Braves were rained out but it was late so I played on my laptop a little.

ROBERTO CLEMENTE  [SABR Bio] is the only player to strike out four times in a single All-Star game, on 11-Jul-1967The Great One was sat down by Dean Chance, Gary Peters, Al Downing and Catfish Hunter— all MLB 20-game winners. He was the reigning 1966 MVP at the time. No other player has led the National League in assists by an outfielder for more seasons than he did. Led the NL in five seasons (1958, 1960, 1961, 1966 and 1967). No other outfielder won a Gold Glove more times. It begs the question, "How uninformed were NL third-base coaches in that era?" Has 12 outfield gold gloves, tied with Willie Mays.
