LIV: Good or Bad?

LIV: Billy Andrate was on 680 today talking about LIV. They only have 48 players right now and every time a big name like Cam Smith signs up, one of the bottom ranked guys gets knocked off. And the bottom ranked guy had already quit the PGA tour, and can't go back. Andrate said they have shotgun starts to promote gambling. The LIV owners own most of the gambling site and casinos, he said. Those no-names that joined LIV – how do they become stars? Will LIV always just poach players from the PGA Tour? We'll see how all this plays out.

Found a sweet Parkview High helmet at the thrift store today. Five bucks. I passed.

Anna did go to Taqueria Monday night, just later than the early birds. She loves this week's special, what tilapia?

Matthew and the pizza crew at Monday Night Garage fired up the ovens and made pizza for the first time yesterday, handing out free samples of their handiwork to customers. He brought a piece home. Crust made from sourdough flour. This weekend they go behind the counter at Antico to observe how those guys operate. In early August MNG has an order to deliver 30 pies in 30 minutes.

Left work at 5:20 yesterday. Stopped by Kroger for ice cream and tea. The ice cream containers are getting smaller, and the prices higher. Straightened up a bit at home before Anna and Caleb arrived. Ceil cooked chicken and vegetable pad thai, with a peach and blueberry cobbler for dessert (with the ice cream). After they'd left and the kitchen was cleaned, I was ready for bed.

That new 75 quart cooler may just be too big. I always wanted a cool cooler, but this bad boy is just too much.

Hopefully an uneventful weekend. Got some cleaning up to do. Candler Park is gonna be wet tomorrow morning.

LOU WHITAKER [SABR Bio] finished first in Rookie of the Year voting ahead of two future Hall of Famers, including a teammate. Whitaker won AL ROY in 1978 with 21 first-place votes. Paul Molitor finished second with 3, and Alan Trammell finished tied for fourth with one vote. Lou played 16 straight seasons of at least 100 games, from 1978-1993 (and 92 out of a possible 115 games in 1994). No player at his position has hit more home runs in a season in the 120-year history of the Tigers. His 28 in 1989 was tied by Ian Kinsler in 2016.

DENISON: remember this urgent truth: "the Lᴏʀᴅ is a God of justice" (Isaiah 30:18).  As I have written, God's judgment comes in two phases: permissive and proactive. His permissive judgment is a consequence of unrepented sin. I believe this is where our culture is today. As David French notes: cle, "culture wars end with consequences." He surveys a growing number of articles published by elite media and from secular feminism decrying the consequences of transactional sex. French concludes, "You can fight reality, but reality always wins". If we still refuse to repent, God must then respond proactively with judgments such as we see in the exodus from Egypt and in the book of Revelation. I do not believe we are there, yet. But we are clearly experiencing grave challenges, from a pandemic to deep political division and rancor, economic challenges, and geopolitical threats.
