PAUL WANER [SABR Bio] in 1927 and Chipper Jones (2006) had extra-base hits in 14 consecutive games. Paul and his younger brother Lloyd were famously known as “Big Poison” & “Little Poison”. Writer Red Smith explained that the origin of these nicknames was accidental. Poison is Brooklyn's pronunciation of “person”. A fan from Flatbush told people he was there to see the "big person and little person" from Pittsburgh, meaning Paul and Lloyd, but his accent made person sound like poison. The unintentional monikers caught on. Paul (3,152 hits) and Lloyd (2,459) combined for 5,611 hits, the career record for hits by brothers. They easily outdistanced the Alou’s 5,094 (Felipe 2,101, Mateo 1,777, and Jesus 1,216), and the DiMaggio's 4,853: Joe (2,214), Dominic (1,680), and Vince (959). Hank and Tommie Aaron combined for 3987 hits.

Tuesday: worked past 5:45. Drove straight home. Had eaten Jason’s Deli sandwiches for lunch at work, For supper I fixed a ground beef quesadilla. Relaxed on the couch. Watched MASH and Jeopardy.
Up early this morning to lift weights. Would’ve been a good morning to play golf, but there was a threat of thunderstorms. Maybe tomorrow. Get any rain this morning?
NEWS: Sunday a bear was swimming in the Gulf of Mexico in Destin. Later I saw a second viral video.
