Sound of Freedom

There’s a Christian movie called Sound of Freedom out now in the theaters. Denison wrote about it. About child trafficking. Based on a true story. While it’s a long process to get any movie made and distributed to theaters, some think Hollywood may have deliberately tried to keep this movie from being released. Disney owned the rights but put it on the back burner for several years. Finally Angel Studios bought the rights. First Amazon turned down distribution, then Netflix turned it down. Rolling Stone was discrediting the film. Instead Angel pre-sold tickets, and got it put into 2600 theaters. Only July 4 it beat out the Indiana Jones movie.

I’ve heard good things about the Jesus Revolution movie. I think our pastor may have spoke about it. Someone in my circle knew the pastor the movie was about. Jesus Revolution movie has a little to do with church music and appealing to the younger generations, a topic we’ve discussed in the past. Since C and I attend the service in the gym. Seems like most of the songs that are sung are written in house. Sometimes I catch myself singing them to myself, though those they’re not really my favorites. The songs at Passion City Church are usually better. I just miss singing the old hymns.

Louie Giglio was at Wimbledon. probably got tickets from Lilly “Slingshot” Niebur’s dad Gary, who used to work for adidas and now runs Stan Smith Enterprises. All the Nieburs wear Stan Smith sneakers.

Just saw a pair of Stan Smiths with Homer Simpson on the back.

Lilly famously took a slingshot to school with the intent to shoot MC’s brother Thomas with a rock. She did just that, sending him to ER for stitches. She was not punished. Lilly thinks I hate her for keeping the story alive (it happened over ten years ago), but I think it’s a great story – and a cool nickname.

Last Friday night: pork tenderloin. Anna is using her puppy in High Country advertising.

Saturday AM golf with my other friend Reid. Got home and C made me an eggy boy sandwich. Beef stir fry for supper. Watched the Braves White Sox on Fox.

Sunday School and worship. Moxie chicken sandwich.

C was taking pictures of the dogs at Moxie. There was also a board with photos of the dogs who'd visited. Later I cut the grass.

Monday morning I went 30 minutes on the treadmill in my new running shoes, trying to break them in. Stopped by Taco Bell on the way to the study.

Teaching the mean’s bible study last night went okay. Slow start. Finally I was able to spur some conversation. Teaching is not my gift. Man Dan Rice can just start talking and it sounds like a prepared lesion. Guess he has so much experience. Tommy added a lot of good stuff. At Dave R’s house. His neighbor came. Also my other friend Reid, and Rob from Coke.

Ran over 3.5 miles this morning. Still crazy at work. Chasing a hot part so people were asking lots of questions. Plus I had a meeting most of the afternoon. C had her ministry tonight. Tomorrow night she’s going to see a musical at the Fox with Anna and MC.

MC’s bro Thomas and wife Holly have embarked on their two month long road trip. Saturday night they attended the Rockies game in Denver. I don’t get many updates, but ran into her mother at JFBC.

A Supreme Court ruling means employers must be more careful about handling religious accommodations.

DENISON: the World Health Organization declared that diet drinks contain an artificial sweetener that causes cancer. Then we learned a 154-pound person would have to drink more than 9 to 14 cans of diet beverages every day over the course of their life to raise safety concerns. Multiple other studies have reportedly concluded the sweetener in question is safe as an ingredient.

GIL HODGES [SABR Bio] his debut was one game at third base for the Dodger before two years of military service. Hodges had a decent day: 1 BB, 1 SB, one error, and started a DP. He once led the league in strikeouts, but never reached triple digits in strikeouts in any of his 18 seasons. He struck out 99 times in 1951 while also leading MLB in games played with 158. He is the only player to win a Gold Glove award for the Brooklyn Dodgers, in 1957 firstt base, the first ever awarded at that position in either league.
