Domingo German of the Yankees pitches the 24th perfect game in thousands and thousands of MLB games, and is only named co-AL player of week. Seems like they could've gone one week without honoring Ohtoni. Acuna was NL Player of the Week.
The Braves have 8 all stars: 3 starters, 2 pitchers, and 3 more subs. The entire infield made it. A testament to infield coach Ron Washington. Also former Braves Freeman Dansby Jansen and Kevin Gausman.
Hard to keep up with reading the closed captions. Koreans talk fast.
Friday: boss took me and Brad to lunch at Longhorn. My burger was good but messy. Had to use a knife and fork. Also a baked potato. After work I took C to Superica in Avalon to split chicken quesadillas.
Up early to play golf on Saturday morning. Back home to cook me an eggy boy sandwich for breakfast.
Then across to the disco Kroger so C could go to the art store. Most of the parking lot was blocked off for construction. I was waiting again in the car with the windows rolled down. Hot but bearable. What I wasn't realizing was the heat was wearing me out. I was bushed the rest of the day.
Home to make "huevos rancheros" - an egg and ground beef quesadilla (below). We had eggs we needed to eat up. Did laundry and watched Smokey and the Bandit.
No Sunday School so we went to the 10 am service. It was packed. Lots of young families with their kids. Ate lunch at a salad place. There was so much salad stuff that I didn't add chicken, and I got a small.
At home I went upstairs to change clothes. Put away some clean clothes, then realized I still needed to look for some summer clothes I'd misplaced. Went into M's room to get to the attic. Spent ten minutes cleaning M's room. Found my clothes and went through that container, and put some things back into the attic. That all took longer than expected.
Started some laundry and mowed the lawn. Got more done than I expected. Watched Rickie Fowler win the tournament.
Went to the Brasfield's to watch the Indian Hills Country Club fireworks. They had Mexican for everyone. Lots of desserts (above). Shawn's house is the second closest to the clubhouse, right where they set off the rockets (and every day his fenced in yard gets littered with golf balls). We were closer than the people sitting in the fairway. Had to look straight up to see them. Glad I brought earplugs. Greatest fictional athletes. More on this in the days ahead.Disney's new $300 million Indiana Jones movie pulled in less than half the first weekend take of "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", the fourth movie of the saga.
A few good guidelines for life.
DENISON: according to a new cable news survey, only 43% of Americans think our best days as a nation are ahead of us. This is a 9-point drop from two years ago and a 19-point decrease since 2017. In similar news, Gallup reports that only 31% of us have confidence in the US government, a decline of 25 points since 2006.
