No Joy in Mudville

In the wake of the end of the Braves season, Dale Murphy offered the following words of wisdom.

Dave DeBusshire is one of several athletes to play two sports professionally. Others include Dick Groat, Gene Conley, the Rifleman Chuck Connors, Olympic gold medalist Jim Thorpe, Ron Reed, Pappa Bear George Halas, Herschel Walker, and several others.

A prayer for our country that Billy Graham once offered: “Heavenly Father, we come to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know the Bible says, “Woe to those who call evil good,” but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and Set us free. Amen.”

Busy weekend. Ran three miles Friday morning. Practiced putting late Friday afternoon. Walked nine holes at daybreak Saturday, then walked another 2-1/2 miles with Ceil and Winner. Has 11000 steps by 10:30 am, and 16000 for the day. Then I cleaned out the garage Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Can put two cars inside soon.
