Weekend

Friday I had a decent day of work, getting several projects done. Ceil made a pizza for supper.

Saturday early AM golf. Not too chilly. I’ve been trying to use my wedge instead of using my putter from far off the green. This morning I played a great round (for me) off the tee and in the fairway. Not too cold: 45 degrees. Left the stocking cap in the car, and stuck to a cap. I did wear gloves, and just a quarter zip, long sleeve sweatshirt, and a cotton tee.

1. Great drive down the fairway. Hybrid over the green. Chip onto green. Good long lag putt. Two more putts. Double.

2. Great 3 wood to fringe. Decent chip. Three putts for another double.

3. Hooked 6 iron left off tee. Good chip up hill. Great long lag putt. Bogey.

4. Got under my hybrid off the tee, so it was short. Good wedge that rolled off the green into the rough. Poor chip. Three putt.

5. Good 3 wood to rough just short of green. Tried two chips: one short, one long. Okay lag putt, then two more.

6. Great drive straight down the fairway to the big oak. Great hybrid to the fringe. Putting for birdie, a first for this hole, perhaps the longest of the nine. Two putt for par, my first on this hole.

7. Sliced my drive right. Couldn’t take a full swing from under the tree, but poked it out pretty good to the top of the hill. Good hybrid up close, then a decent chip onto the green. Still couldn’t sink a putt.

8. Another great drive. Hit a 6 iron well, over the green. Tried three chips, none good. More putts.

9. Decided to hit driver up the hill. Shouldn’t have. Decent 5 iron recovery shot, and a good chip onto the green. My putting woes continued. Still my best 9 holes ever, tee to green.

Came home and plopped on the couch to rest. C said our three nieces would arrive in two hours, so I had to get up and get to cleaning up the house. They arrived, visited for a bit, then went out to eat a late lunch at Little Rey. Ceil was especially hyped up with them visiting and the close Syracuse@Clemson game.

Sunday School, and later a S.S. gathering at my other friend Reid’s house. Mexican fixings and lots of desserts.

Falcons@Bengals: Joe Burrow became the 4th QB in history to throw for 450+ yards, 3+ TDs, an 80% completion percentage, and a rushing TD. Falcons lost three DBs in the game to injuries, and were forced to play a DB who had just been added to the roster. Falcons are rushing the ball well despite having their top RB out with an injury. Falcons still tied for first place in the division.

Ran 4 miles this morning, then worked from home. Doctor was pleased to see I had lost 22+ pounds. Time to knock out 20 more. Small group tonight.

Phillies/Astros World Series. Should the Yankees fire their manager? Will they bring Aaron Judge back?

Will the Dodgers fire their manager? Will they sign Judge and Trout and Otani and Kenley Jansen?

Saturday is all lined up for a full day of football: GT followed by UGA followed by Kentucky at Tennessee. World Series game two mixed in there as well. We’ll see how these teams do with basically five days off, like the Braves had.

Bama and Clemson have a bye week. Chris Dimino tells it like it is. Doesn’t mix words, or throw out outrageous ideas just to make a splash. He says Clemson could go undefeated and not make the playoff over a one-loss SEC team (Bama-UGA-Tennessee). He could be right.
