Shiv's First Halloween

W&MC took Shivonne (Tinkerbell) to trick or treat with Charles (Captain Hook) and Annie and Peter (Pan) Norman. Photos stolen from MC.
I left work just before 5 pm yesterday to avoid the rush. Drove straight home, but after 15 minutes had to go to small group. Was just me and John. We had a nice chat. Talking about grandkids, he has a bunch, over ten.  Ceil made potato soup.

Not many trick or treaters, though there were plenty in the streets. Later when I took Winnie outside I noticed something shiny in the driveway. Some kid had dropped the Baby Ruth that Ceil had given them.
Saturday: another decent round of golf. Played with Paul, whose anti-gun campaign has gained the notice of Biden, Warnock, Lucy McBath, and politicians in Pennslyvania.
1. Great drive off tee. Scalded a 7 iron that settled on the back fringe. Poor lag putt due to bad lie. Bogey.
2. Good 3 wood off tee to the fringe. Two putt for par.
3. Flubbed the tee shot. Hit a good 7 iron that sailed just past the hole. Several chips and putts.
4. Made good contact off tee with a 6 iron, but it sailed left. Good chip. Good two putt.
5. Lined a 3 wood off tee to the fringe. Good long lag putt. Bogey.
6. Not a good drive off tee. Decent 5 iron. Great 6 iron to fringe. Two putt. Decent bogey on a long hole.
7. Sliced my drive, but it was better on this hole than most recent rounds. From behind a tree I twice tried to thread the needle between two trees. Twice It hit the tree and bounced back onto the 8th fairway. Then I nailed a 5 iron that rocketed off the club. Great contact. Right into a tree. Flubbed a 7 iron, then a nice wedge shot onto the green. Two putt.
8. Great drive. Nice wedge behind the green. Poor pitch. Good lag.
9. Great line drive 3 wood to the fringe, my best tee shot ever on this hole. Good chip onto green. Two putt.
Five straight workouts this week then carrying my bag a hilly 9 holes.
Golf: pure ball-first contact begins with four swing keys.

After (1) golf I stopped by (1) Dollar Tree, (3) MicroCenter. Found a Braves knit hat at (4) City Thrift. Dropped a bucket of baseballs by (5) Henry's, and had a nice chat with crazy wife Kristie, who has been attending JFBC. (6) Picked up something at Lee & Nancy's. (7) McDonalds. Got home at 11:30. Full morning.

WILLARD NIXON [SABR Bio] was instrumental in possibly preventing the Yankees from breaking their own record. He had attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later Auburn University) to play baseball for the Tigers in 1947-48. He batted left and threw right. In 1954 the Yankees finished second behind Cleveland, eight games back. It was the first time in six years the Bronx Bombers had not won the World Series. Nixon won all four of his starts against the Yankees in 1954. Had those not been Sox wins, the Yankees might have been closer to catching the Indians. His obituaries refer to him as a "Yankee Killer". One of his Topps cards refers to him both as "Nick" and "Willie". His 1953 Topps card #30, has this on the back. In 1971, Nixon was among the seven people chosen for the inaugural class of the Rome-Floyd County Sports Hall of Fame then inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1993.

I think there is a Whattaburger in Woodstock and Kennesaw. I love me a good milkshake. Next week I got deals for a free Steak & Shake shake and a McDonalds frappe.

A commercial mentions both Christmas and Hanukkah. Good for WalMart.
Anna crossed the newly reopened Cheshire Bridge today, of course to get to Taqueria.
