The thing I like about ESPN’s Total QB Rating is that a running QB can be compared equally to a passing QB. You’d think all those crazy kids today so worried about equality and equity would celebrate such a ranking, but no. So many factors to consider: how good the team is, how good the defense, O-line, backs, receivers. It’s not just the QB. Three QB’s names “J Daniels” in this week’s Top 40.
1 93.1 CJ Stroud Ohio State
2. 91.3 Hendon Hooker Tenn from Penn State
3. 90.4 J Daniels Kansas
4. 90.2 D Maye UNC
6. 88.4 Bo Nix Oregon from Auburn
7. 86.9 Bryce Young Alabama
10. 84.2 Stetson Bennett UGA
15. 79.8 J Daniels LSU
22. 76.1 Adrian Martinez K State sh get Heisman consideration
39. 69.2 JT Daniels WVA
40. 69.1 DJ Ulagalelei Clemson
83. 51.8 Darren Grainger Ga State
96. 45.2 Spencer Rattler SC
102. 41.9 Jeff Sims GT
If UGA loses to Tennessee, can the Dawgs still make the playoff? If Bama beats Tenn is the SEC Championship Game, all three will have one loss. Michigan and Ohio State will play each other, giving one of those teams a loss. Could Clemson go undefeated and miss the playoff? Doubtful. We shall see. Hopefully the Sports Illustrated cover jinx will be in effect for the Volunteers.
Saw a clip of a high school game where a team tried a last-second game-winning field goal. The defense blocked the kick, and ran off the field celebrating – while an offensive lineman went over and picked up the ball, and scored the game-winning TD without being chased by the defense. That’s why coaches always say “finish the drill” and “play to the whistle” but kids would rather celebrate than think. Spoken like a true old fart, I know.
We have taken several routes back and forth from Destin over the years. While driving through Montgomery and down 65 is okay, I kinda like the route through Niceville to Moss Head to Florala to Opp and Elba to Troy and up to I-20.
Speaking of Destin, when you pull up Google Maps and search for Destin a little picture comes up. Pretty sure you can see The Pad in the photo.
Can’t think of much to say this week. Omelets and toast for supper last night. Watched “So Help Me Todd” instead of the World Series. Perhaps the first time in World Series history that a team (a) wore a road uniform at home and (b) wore a throwback uniform. Also the first combined no-hitter in Series history.
Ran 3 miles this morning at the gym. The office had Chickfila chicken biscuits. Had a good long plant tour. Spent a long time at the cut to length line where paper is inserted between each sheet. Good talk with my old friend Johnny at the slitter.
Saw crazy Roger at the tube mill, and observed parts being cut at the tube laser. Fun but two hours on my feet walking. BBQ for lunch.
