Any thoughts on LeBron breaking the all-time scoring record? His longevity is to be commended. Some say he’s trying to stick around to play with his son, but what do I know. Some say LeBron is the Greatest Of All Time.
Some people use the term GOATs as a plural, which I never understood, How can there be more than one Greatest of All Time? I know, I’m old.
Speaking of GOATs, did you see the interesting movie coming out about the genesis of Nike’s Air Jordan sneaker, and Nike’s recruitment of Michael Jordan? “Air” looks good, with Ben Affleck as Phil Knight and Matt Damon as Sonny Vaccaro.
Herschel didn’t have the pro career that LeBron had, though he stuck around and retired with the second most combined yards in NFL history, the most yards in pro football history. But longevity records don’t get you in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Not much to report. Busy at work. Battled the setting sun on the way to JFBC for small group. At home M was cooking in preparation for all the Valentines boxes his fledgling bakery has to deliver for Valentines Day today.
Also M is supposed to start making breakfast dishes for Joel / Charles / Willis Norman’s Bellwood Coffee establishments. I hope he was an accurate understanding of what’s supposed to happen.
Supposedly there were a bunch of guys on Will’s ski trip to Vermont, including longtime friends Joel, Charles, and Will.
I finally got back to the gym to lift weights this AM. Lunch meeting today, catered by Jimmy Johns. Starting to sink in all the extra work we'll be doing on SAP. Our team is already overworked, taking as many shortcuts as possible when entering orders and determining use, rounding up to make sure we are covered (which sometimes leads to rusty or old material). We're barely keeping our heads above water, racing from one fire drill to another all day every day. So discouraging.
Last year JFBC renovated their atrium, the multi-level hallway connecting the Sunday school building to the gym, where worship services are held. It used to be gridlock between services trying to walk around, due to people stopping to talk. Not sure if the traffic flow is any better. They realigned the small coffee shop into a larger bistro café. People headed to the service will stop by for a cup of coffee or snack before going in to worship the Lord of Creation. Does that seem right?
The café is open 7 days a week, I suppose, for people to eat lunch, supper, etc. Not where I want to go out to eat. The JFBC coffee is priced like Starbucks. The new atrium has all these places to sit, and it looks like people are actually using them. “A piazza, as Joe Fox said in “You’ve Got Mail.” We have our small groups but we meet in a Sunday school classroom. I wouldn’t want to meet out in the open where we could be interrupted, or have distractions of people walking by. What could be better than this?

This has contributed to unprecedented levels of depression and anxiety and never-satisfied longings for affirmation.”
Ken Ham is at it again, publicly calling out Christian leaders on social media, saying it is his duty to do so. I thought admonishments like this should be done in private, or at least inside the church, as opposed to letting the entire world watch the disagreement within the church. Ham spends more time dragging down the Christian community than lifting it up.
