Don Larsen pitched 13 seasons, but only 5 for the Yankees. A career record of 81-91 with a 3.78 ERA. Total career WAR of 12.5. But for one game in October, nobody pitched better.
Ralph Branca had a career WAR of 16.5, with a 88-68 career record and 3.79 ERA in 12 seasons, ten with Brooklyn. He won 21 games in 1947.
Joe Page only pitched 7 years with the Yankees plus one more with the Pirates, so his wins above replacement is only 6.6. Career record of 57-49 but a decent career ERA of 3.53.
The 24 best players in New York Yankees history | Yardbarker
1. Max Fried finished 2nd in the Cy Young voting
2. Spencer Strider set the rookie strikeout record
3. Kyle Wright: how many 3rd starters win 21 games?
4. Charlie Morton would be many team’s #1 starter
5. Mike Soroka is an All-Star
6. Ian Anderson is lights out in the postseason
There are more talented hurlers waiting in the wings after these six. Morton got off to a slow start in 2022 due to not being able to properly rehab in team facilities due to the lockout. After a rough first two months Charlie’s numbers returned to form.

Not much to report. Work was steady yesterday until almost six. Team members Jonathan, Alex, and Rodney are on the road most of the time, but were in the office yesterday. Angie and Brad worked from home, so I was the only team member in the pit.
C was at the Table women’s ministry. M was in the kitchen cooking. I put on a Hallmark movie we’d seen before.
Ran at the gym this morning. Working from home. I stumbled across Lang’s radio broadcast on YouTube, so I got to watch.
