Saturday's Picks

Not sure how much research you do before making picks. Sometimes I come across Lang's weekly picks, and lately I've been paying more attention. I usually just go off the top of my head. My top three picks…

MICHIGAN-Ohio State   4 – Buckeyes win by 5 or more.

Alabama-AUBURN   14-1/2 - Bama wins by 15 or more.

Missouri-ARKANSAS   7-1/2 - Mizzou wins by 8 or more.

Other picks…

Georgia-GA TECH   23 – Dawgs win by 24 or more.

FSU-FLORIDA   6 – Noles win by 7 or more.

Mississippi-MISS. ST.   12 – Ole Miss wins by less than 12.

LOUISVILLE-Kentucky   7 – Cards win by 8 or more.

LSU-Texas A & M   10-1/2 - LSU wins by 11 or more.

Clemson-SOUTH CAROLINA   7 – Gamecocks win by 8 or more.

NC STATE-North Carolina   2 – UNC wins by 3 or more.

Hope you loyal readers have a happy Thanksgiving. Making a mental note to save room for dessert, though we'll surely be taking any leftover apple pie home with us tonight. So I'll eat my fill of turkey, dressing, sweet potato casserole, Matthew's macaroni & cheese. Probably some green bean casserole, though it looks like it could be good or bad. Goose and Winnie will hold down the fort in East Cobb.

MEL OTT  [SABR Bio] set the record for most home run titles by a National Leaguer. Ralph Kiner broke Ott's record with his 7th straight NL HR title in 1952. Mike Schmidt is the current NL record holder as he bested Kiner's record with his 8th HR crown in 1986. Ott is the only player to hit more than 300 home runs in a single ball park. Ott finished with 323 HR in his home park, The Polo Grounds in New York. He was once intentionally walked with the bases loaded, on 05-Oct-1929.  Full story here.  It was one of just 8 times on record that an MLB hitter had been walked intentionally with the bases loaded: Abner Dalrymple in 1881, Nap Lajoie in 1901, Del Bissonette in 1928, Bill Nicholson in 1944, Barry Bonds in 1998, Josh Hamilton in 2008, and Corey Seager in 2022.

Since when did the Globetrotters start wearing black uniforms?
