Falcons fire their head coach and all these yahoos say who we need to hire. Jim Harbaugh ain't coming to the Falcons. Bill Belichek is like 70 years old.
Doesn't matter who coaches if they don't have a QB. I've said it before – Falcons don't need to break the bank on over the hill Russell Wilson and his huge contract, or Justin Fields, who hasn't proved anything in Chicago (except that he has a huge contract as well). Don't need to pay a king's ransom to move up in the draft with so many other needs on the team. Panthers gave up so many draft picks to select Bryce Young, who doesn't have a team around him. You are going to say a QB a big salary anyway, so don't give up a bunch of draft picks to get him.
Some sort of proven coach would be good. Maybe Paul Johnson !!! You never know how an assistant will do in his first head coaching job, but seems like they would have some sort of idea. Everyone says KC assistant Eric B is a top candidate. Several other teams are firing coaches – Washington, Patriots, etc. so there will be competition for the good candidates.
Kicker Koo lines up almost like a straight one kicker, but petty sure he still boots it with the side of his foot. He did have a slump there year, but I would keep him around. In the NFL or college football not a good idea to have a bad game at the end of the year. It is what everyone remembers. For all I know the Falcons punter might be one of the best in the league, and had one bad punt against the Saints.
National championship game tonight. Does it really start at 730? Probably closer to 8 pm. Doubt I will watch to the end. Michigan wearing head to toe navy. Washington to wear white jerseys, pants, and socks. In the semifinal Washington wore purple jerseys, pants, and socks against Texas in head to toe white. Yesterday the Saints wore black jerseys, pants, and socks against the Falcons, who wore white jerseys, pants, and socks.
That's the way football is there days – one team in all white against a team in all dark (usually black). Wouldn't be surprised if teams started wearing a white helmet on the road, or a dark helmet at home. Kinda like Power Rangers or TeleTubbies. These 18 year olds think they look unique and different, when actually they look pretty much all the same. Like robots, not athletes.
Someone continues to mess with the Chistmas decorations in the lobby. I'll have to ask Charles Baugh if it's okay to take them down yet.
Some ladies are the best listeners. Men not so much. I try to be a good listener, but my mind will wander. I need to be better at asking questions.
Lunch at the Gwinnett Diner on Pleasant Hill, just east of 85. Had a chicken philly sandwich. Met my best friend from high school. Haven't seen him for years. He came up to GT with me where we were both active in BSU. I went to Wieuca with him our freshman year but then I started going to SPdL that next spring. Neither of us had much new news. Our friend from college has bad cancer (she's only around 66 years old) but neither of us know what to say to her. She is arranging her affairs (she never married) and will be moving to hospice soon. Her brother was asking for a copy of the old Pat Terry song "I Can't Wait To See Jesus". So sad.
Matthew's trip to Mexico was postponed until February. Wedding was put off a month due to covid.
