Our God Reigns
Daniel 6:1-28 the lion's den
"Whoever wants today's youth the most will get them." This includes your kids. On
1. v 1-5 Character and integrity matter. Daniel received a high position because of the spirit within him, causing others to plot against him. They could find no fault in him. He practiced what he preached even when others weren't watching.
Do people see any difference in your life? Can others tell that you are a Christian, based on your behavior? Daniel was not ashamed.
2. v 6-10 Our circumstances don't change our devotion.
The others worked to soften up the king, saying the king should throw anyone who doesn't worship the king into the lion's den.
v 10 Still, Daniel went to his room to pray 3 times a day. Daniel was 80 years old. He wasn't going to change. He had faith that God would take care of him.
3. v 16-22 Our God sovereignly saves.
The others tell king Darius that Daniel disobeyed the law, which caused the king great anguish. He couldn't sleep. Daniel was cast in with the lions, but God shut the mouth of the lions. Daniel was at peace. A preincarnate Jesus was with Daniel. Both Daniel and Jesus were falsely accused and tried in a shame trial. God will save us as well.
4. v 25-27 God sovereignly reigns.
The king is filled with rage, and throws the others in to the lion's den, as well as their families. The king sent a decree out to his kingdom that all should worship the God of Daniel.
