This past Tuesday Dec 17th: worked 9-3. Took almost an hour to get home. Left at 436 and drove an hour through traffic to Johns Creek Team dinner at Sugo, and Italian restaurant. Eleven in attendance. We arrived first so I used a drink ticket for a rum flavored drink. I told the server to keep the Coke Zeros coming, and she did a good job. All the food was brought out family style, including the entrees. Three appetizers, including meatballs. Two different salads. Salmon, flank steak, and breaded chicken. Assorted desserts, including bread pudding and cannoli. All very good.
Sugo is the new go to spot for our bigwigs at work. Over 15 years ago our fam attended a rehearsal dinner at the Sugo in Roswell, which has since closed.
Man DO NOT GO TO HOUSTONS WITHOUT A RESERVATION !!! It might not be so crowded at 5 pm though.
Every January the Braves host an open house Braves Fest fundraiser for their charitable foundation. They sell souvineers (which I like). Others pay big bucks for player autographs. The GM will have a Q&A with fans, there is a fashion show of upcoming items to wear. Fans can hit in the batting cage or play catch on the field, and run the bases. A big crowd even in bad weather. The club cancelled the 2025 event, citing prep for the All Star Game and other construction. I am disappointed, but won’t gripe and complain like many fans are doing.

TV: our Hulu works pretty good. Can watch any show just about any time you want, so you don’t have to worry about missing it. Lots of movies and shows and networks.
BURLEIGH GRIMES [SABR Bio] was the first pitcher to surrender a World Series home run to another pitcher, to Jim Bagby in game 5 on 10-Oct-1920. He replaced Casey Stengel as the Dodgers manager. Managed Brooklyn from 1936-37. Grimes wad called “OI’ Stubblebeard” because of habit of not shaving on games days. My kind of guy.
Since I am off work until January 2, these blog posts may be out of chronological order, and a little bit all over the place. Upcoming posts include: a chilly oyster roast, a list of fall freebees, thoughts on Christmas cards, football recaps, and my annual Christmas message. At some point I'll write about how these blog posts come together.
