As The WNBA Turns

Evidently WNBA “star” Diana Taurasi called out Angel Reese, telling her to say goodbye to her career. This just days after Taurasi called out Caitlin Clark. Diana took cheap shots at Clark after Iowa beat Taurasi’s UConn. Seems like anyone can be a star at UConn, but it takes a real player to star out in a little flyover state like Iowa. The jump from college to pro ball is rough for most players, but many think Taurasi’s rants aren’t helping the WNBA, a league that is need of as much positive news as possible. Perhaps Taurasi belongs on The View.

Last night Caitlin appeared on the Weekend Update segment of Saturday Night Live, and received a large ovation. After joking around, she listed several past and current WNBA stars that she admired, like Maya Moore. A notable exception to her list: no Diana Taurasi.

The WNBA draft is this coming Monday night. After every pick is Taurasi going to say “She’s in for a rude awakening” ?

Sometimes a joke is just too good not to tell, even if it is creepy or weird. Coworker Beard is retiring after 40+ years. We’ve never been in the same department or been close friends, though we’ll make small talk about work or UGA or the Braves. He’s not a crazy guy, more of a serious straight shooter / straight arrow. Yesterday coworker Brad was asking Beard about the shoulder sling that Beard has been wearing, recovering from surgery. Not five minutes later I walked into the men’s room. Beard was in there, at a urinal. I had to say it: “Let me know if you need any help!”

Later in the day we met in the same place. I made sure he knew that I’d been joking.

Wednesday: at lunch I met a guy in Doraville, then picked up a Wendys single for a buck, and a free RaceTrac drink. Worked past 615 and then met up with a guy on the way home, selling a bobblehead. Fixed chicken quesadillas for supper. C was at small group. Watched Jeopardy and Chicago Med.

Wednesday was a little better at work. Less stressful. Thursday was worse. So much to do. People won’t respond, answer questions, or figure them out for themselves. They want you to do their job for them, but offer nothing in return.

Thursday: worked until six. It was a little slower, so I was able to clean some stuff off my desk.

Shivonne and Millie spent the night with us. Later we watched So What About Todd and Elsbeth, but it was hard for me to pay attention. Like Wednesday night, I was fielding several calls about a shipment that had taken two full days to deliver. Hope it doesn’t get lost.

I slept on the couch with Winnie, since both girls had their playpens in our room. And a noise machine.

Lunch Friday: a free Arbys sandwich. Saturday: worked in the morning, then met the guys for lunch at Righteous Que. C is stressing out trying to get ready for her Paris trip.
