Grant Field is a great old stadium, located in the heart of Atlanta. I just hate how the east stands don't match the west stands, and the north stands don't match the south. No matter which way you look, you think you're in four different stadiums. Not sure if the new construction will be an improvement or not. Might just have a big new building taking up half the north stands. Since GT isn't releasing the drawings of how the inside of the stadium will look, I fear the worst.
Finally bought the brown pair of Cole Haan sneakers I "needed" - for 25% off and paying with the money I'd earned selling my other old sneakers on PayPal. Ceil also went shoe shopping.
Vendor took us out to the Duluth Diner for lunch. Had a Philly chicken sandwich and fries.
Are you going to watch the Augusta National Women's Amateur golf tournament? It started today, and runs through Saturday.
JOE TINKER [SABR Bio] played on three major league teams in Chicago, but never played for the White Sox. Tinker played for the Chicago Cubs from 1902-12,1916; the Chicago Chi-Feds in 1913; and the Chicago Whales in 1914 (the same franchise as the ChiFeds, but operating under a different team name). Tinker once seriously threatened teammate Harry Steinfeldt in a clubhouse argument, actually wielding a pair of the trainer's shears, threatening to kill Steinfeldt until cooler heads prevailed. Tinker refused to speak to 2nd-base teammate (& known hothead) Johnny Evers, for 33 years following an argument over a cab ride. Here are 3 fleet birds with their infield partner: Photo
