Iowa may have been freaked out be LSU's height advantage. Both team were trying to get off those inside shots quickly, due to all the blocks. Tigers shot 38% from the floor and only 64% from the foul line, to Iowa's 46% & 77%. LSU out rebounded Iowa 54-36, but only had one more defensive rebound.
Looked rough for Iowa early on, playing most of the first half from behind. Angel Reese was on target early, making 6 of her first 8 shots. Then she went cold, missing 12 of her last 13 (and 3 of 4 foul shots down the stretch). Iowa came back to tie the game at the half, outscoring LSU 43-27 in the 2nd & 3rd quarters.
Clark made like five three-pointers in the 3rd quarter, giving the Hawkeyes a ten point lead they held for the rest of the game. Her passes inside gave Iowa easy layups, putting the pressure on the LSU defenders Iowa wanted to get into foul trouble. Two Tigers fouled out, including Reese.
Clark 41 pt 12 assists 7 RB
Reese 17 pt 4 assists 20 RB
Before the game the Iowa players lined up across the foul line, held hands, and joined in the singing of the national anthem. LSU makes it a practice to leave the court before the national anthem.
The game drew a huge TV audience on ESPN, larger than the following events. Not bad for a Monday night.
