Book Club

Finished reading my 700th book: “The Boys of Riverside: A Deaf Football Team and a Quest For Glory”, by Thomas Fuller. A rag tag 8 man team returns from covid to become a national sensation, overcoming key injuries on an unlikely playoff run. Kinda like a gridiron Hoosiers. Five stars.

Also finished listening to #701: “My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry”, a novel that Catherine Norman had read.

Currently listening to #702: “The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free” by Pete Hegseth. The US military used to be about unity, the army not white or black but green. But now being different is okay, then generals more interested in politics than readying a fighting force for battle.

I have lots of Braves caps, but when Winnie was a pup she chewed up my navy road cap. I’ve been on the lookout for one ever since. This weekend I bought an old wool fitted road cap off eBay for $11.00. Should deliver Thursday.

Last year and again this season the Braves are giving away vinyl records of pitcher Spencer Strider’s favorite artist. This season one of the artists is Aunt Bea – no wait, I meant Anna’s friend Bea. Terrible joke. Don't laugh.

'He Came to Just About Every Practice' - Arch Manning Sheds Light on Relationship With his Grandfather Archie, in an interview with Marty Smith.

Both the Grizzlies and Hawks won last night.

Did a little housework late yesterday afternoon, as Ceil has a visitor coming over today. Our TV wasn’t working – not sure if the Apple TV streaming device has worn out. Ceil was able to get TV on her laptop, but after we did the dishes I just nodded off there on the couch, slightly after 8 pm.

Went to the gym this morning. As usual I took work clothes to change in to. At home I had two pairs of pants hung up on hangers and at the last minute I decided to wear the black pair instead of the grey pair. At the gym I went to put them on and realized they weren’t my regular black pants but adidas warmup pants. Could’ve gone home to change but decided to just wear the warmup pants to work. No one said anything.

One of our vendors sent us two tins of delicious chocolate chip cookies. Plus I brought in a bag of Trader Joes Christmas goodies that Ceil had stashed away, so I am set with the sweets for a few days.

Was up over 40 emails in my in box, but have whittled it down to 13. Hopefully below ten by the end of the week. Got to focus on what’s most important, which isn’t always the emails.

Probably a big crowd at Taqueria tonight. I have a focus group so we will miss the low anniversary prices. Guess I’ll be wearing the warmup pants. It doesn’t start until 7:30 and lasts past 9 pm.
