First Bite: Kiko's Tacos

Mexican for lunch on Monday, for coworker Angie’s birthday. Went to Kiko’s Tacos at the corner of Spaulding and Medlock Bridge. I got the burrito bowl. Very good. Eric, Angie, Rachel, Leo, Daniel, and Dray. Team member Brad was working from home and missed it.

A policeman in Roswell was shot & killed Friday night around 715 pm, just east of 400 near Holcomb Bridge. The assassin had a criminal record. At the time we were west of 400 south of the Roswell Square, trying to make a left onto busy, narrow 3 lane Roswell Road from Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee. Two Roswell police cars screamed by at an unusually high rate of speed, much faster than normal when they have their sirens on. I knew something was up. They drove south, most probably down the hill to the river, then left onto Riverside, then under 400 and up Old Alabama to the crime scene.

We first went to some new place in Roswell, across from Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee. Too crowded and no parking. Then we went across the street to Moxie Burger, but there were dozens of teenagers in line. We drove to the other Moxie in East Cobb, near Paper Mill.

Up early to play golf Saturday morning. I was supposed to play with Paul, but he called in sick. Teed off at 645 by myself, and played well.

1. Hit a good 5 iron, and an even better mulligan. Good fairway shot. A good chip onto the green. Two putt.

2. Pulled my 5 iron left, then hit a great long mulligan. Also hit a lighted ball that went dark as soon as I hit it. Found it anyway. Chipped one onto the green and two putted.

3. Pulled a 7 iron left, then hit a mulligan onto the green. Hit 5 lag putts but none very close. Still made “par”.

4. Hit two of three tee shots well, one onto the green. Good lag. Par.

5. Hit a worm burner and an okay mulligan. Also hit a blue lightup ball that I thought had gone left, but I found it on the right fringe. Couldn’t get a lag putt close. Bogey.

6. Two flubs, then a good long 5 iron. Then another decent 5 iron, considering that I was still playing with lighted balls. Then I pitched 3 of 5 onto the green, and the other two came close. Missed one putt right then a mulligan missed left, then I drained my third try for a rare “par”.

7. Hit a real good hybrid, that sailed most of the way up the hill. Then a good long 5 iron. Bad chip then a good chip. Two putt for a decent “bogey”.

8. My first drive clipped a tree branch, as did a mulligan. Third attempt was better. Hit two of three 7 irons well. Chipped 5 balls, none super great. Two putt for a “bogey”. Professor Chen was hitting tee shots on the adjacent 7th tee, so we took time to greet each other.

9. As I teed up my ball a grandfather about my age stopped his baby stroller on the adjacent path and told me to hit. Worm burner. “At least it was straight” I quipped. He encouraged me to hit another, but went on his way. Only one of my four shots was good. Hit three passable chips. Good lag but missed the bogey putt on the sloped green.

Thanks for putting up with my golf recaps. When a professional golfer is interviewed after his round I am always amazed how they remember each shot, but really its not that hard.

Cashed in a RaceTrac pizza deal on the way home. A special bacon and egg pizza. Okay, but not great. Lots of housework and laundry.

My back was hurting too bad to hit the gym so far on Monday and Tuesday. Too much bending over on Saturday. Was able to get good deep sleep Monday morning until 640 am. Had to skip RaceTrac so I could be on time. Worked until 545. Ceil had a Zoom call until 730. We had to move furniture out to the garage. Played on my computer a little bit and went up to bed at 9 pm. Skipped the gym again on Tuesday morning due to my aching back. It was better than on Monday.
