The Luka Trade.

What did you think about the Luka trade to the Lakers? The rich get richer. Mavs must’ve thought Luca was gaining too much weight, but in return they received an older, oft-injured player. Always seems like the Lakers get the best end of trades. Kareem. Wilt. Kobe. Shaq. Also when the Lakers got Anthony Davis from the Pelicans. They convinced the Mavs that Luka would be injury riddled and overweight. Maybe the Mavs saw this. Yes both Luka and LeBron need the ball. Perhaps LeBron will convince Luka to get in shape.

Ceil cooked homemade pizza on Friday night. I played golf on Saturday morning. Teed off at 6:55 am. Used lighted balls on the first four holes. Played by myself, so I was able to hit 2 or 3 balls for each shot. Some highlights…

1. Decent tee shot and approach.

2. Good 5 iron off the tee. Mulligan was even better (above). As Smoltz told Trump. you could build a shopping mall between those two balls.

3. Same deal: two good 7 irons off the tee, the second to the fringe. Two putt for par.

4. Flub, okay mulligan, then another flub. Decent chip onto the green. Bogey.

5. Hit one in the street, then an okay mulligan. Decent chip onto the green. Two putt for bogey.

6. Okay hybrid off tee. Several fairway flubs, then hit three real nice 9 irons onto the green.

7. Decent hybrid off tee. Okay fairway shot. Great long 9 iron onto the green.

8. Good drive off tee. Flubbed my approach, but hit an okay mulligan to the fringe. Bogey.

9. Okay hybrid off tee. Hit three wedge shots, none super close.

Made it home for our 9 am Zoom call with friends overseas. Then housework. Took Ceil’s car for an oil change and wash. On the way home I stopped by Dollar Tree and RaceTrac.

Supper at Super Chix in the Avenue East Cobb. Beforehand C went into a store for makeup. Took her forever, and I was getting cold waiting outside. A young husband sat down with me, and we had a nice chat about sports. C ate a grilled chicken salad, and I had a chicken cordon bleu sandwich. Pretty good.

Sunday school and worship. Ceil and Anna had a baby shower, so I took Johnson Ferry across the river into Sandy Springs for a 25 cent sandwich at City BBQ (below). Back home I flipped on the Pebble Beach tourney, cleaned up some, and washed my car. Later a couple picked up an old china cabinet that I had put up for sale.

Up early this morning and went to the gym. Started on the treadmill but my foot was hurting, so I lifted weights instead. Swung by RaceTrac for a soft drink on the way home. Ceil was making a smoothie this morning, and managed to get it all over herself and the kitchen.

FRANK ROBINSON [SABR Bio] is the only batter to hit 50+ doubles in a season in the 1960s, with 51 in 1962 for the Reds. No other player hit 50 doubles from 1954 through 1976. He won the Triple Crown in the American League in 1966: 49 HR, 122 RBI, .316 BA. He never led the league in any triple crown category in any other season of his career. He hit a home run in his first at-bat as a player-manager. In Cleveland in 1975, Robinson homered in the 1st inning off the Yankees’ Doc Medich on 08-Apr-1975.

Pete Davidson may be regretting buying a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry with Colin Jost for over $200,000.00.  Scarlett Johansson wants husband Colin Jost to sell his decommissioned Staten Island ferry.

Speaking of the ferry, Denison says “the top ranked weather predicting animal is Staten Island Chuck, who is right 85% of the time. Punxsutawney Phil is right only 35% of the time, ranking #17 among the groundhogs and other animals who “predict” the weather each winter. The origins of Groundhog Day date back to German settlers in the 1800s who celebrated the Christian festival of Candlemas on February 2, the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Candlemas Day is another name for the feast of the Presentation of the Lord. Forty days after Jesus’ birth, Mary and Joseph brought him to the temple for the rites of purification and dedication prescribed by the Torah (Leviticus 12). On that day, a “righteous and devout” man named Simeon took the infant Christ in his arms and proclaimed him “a light for revelation to the Gentiles” (Luke 2:25, 32). Forty days from December 25 is February 2.
