Pinball Clemons < Herschel

I often state that Herschel gained more yards than any other pro football player, when you combine his NFL and USFL yards. In fact the Canadian Football League’s Pinball Clemons gained 25438 yards to Walker’s 25283, a difference of 145 yards. Clemons played at William & Mary and spent two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. Pinball’s high school yards are unavailable, but when you add in their college yards, Herschel gained more yards, college & pro.

One day I will gather the high school yards of several recent RBs and compare them to Herschel.

I am no expert, but it seemed like KC TE Travis Kelce had a drop off in production this past year. Missed some key blocks in the Super Bowl. He is signed with KC through the 2025 season, with $11M of his $17M a roster bonus should he still be with the team on March 1st. You’d think he’d want to play another season. Should he retire? Will the Chiefs keep him?

Kelce’s 2024 season was comparable to the rest of his career. The only dropoff was his yards per reception (8.5) by far the lowest of his 12 seasons. His yards per catch has dropped for 4 straight years, but the dropoff from 2022 (12.2 to 10.6 to 8.5) is most noticeable. Also TD’s dropped from 12 to 5 to 3, though Kelce’s TD number has varied throughout his career.
