Cow Day

Today is Chickfila Cow Day, and W&MC and Anna took advantage.
Check out Anna's new glasses.
Wild being away from the office for five days. Last Wednesday with the short week and customer not working I was able to get a lot of work done. Ran several errands on the way home: bank, pharmacy, gasoline. Anna arrived home around eight, in time for a late supper: Mexican.

Up early Thursday for the Peachtree Road Race. That afternoon I took a nap. Ceil grilled out burgers and chicken and made homemade strawberry ice cream. Anna went over to hang out with friends at a pool. Slow evening. No fireworks.

Friday a little housework. I ran some errands and shipped a bobblehead. Went over to MC’s uncle’s house for a pool party. Ceil made peach ice cream, blueberry cobbler, and homemade baked beans. The Gilberts brought BBQ and slaw. Will made jalapeno macaroni and cheese. Plus key lime pie. Had 13 at the party. Stayed late playing games. Anna and Christian had to head back to Athens.

Saturday a little housework. MASH reruns and the Braves. Ceil cooked BBQ chicken and corn on the cob. Could’ve gone to the Gwinnett game but stayed at home to veg.

Sunday School and worship at Johnson Ferry. Leftovers for lunch. Ceil usually rests after that but had us both working hard around the house on some projects.

At 5:30 I headed out to Augusta. Eat when I got there: BBQ boneless wings, tater tots, and bacon slaw. Also a nice dessert of fresh baked apple turnovers and vanilla ice cream. Got a decent amount of computer work done at the hotel.

Monday morning at the hotel I fixed a nice scrambled egg and Canadian turkey bacon on English muffin with cheese. Also blueberry yogurt.  Worked out in that brutally hot plant taking physical inventory from 7:30 am to 1 pm.

Lunch at Chilis: BBQ boneless wings, tossed salad, and fries. Drove to Athens and had supper at Agua Linda Taqueria with Anna. She had chicken tacos and I had a fajita quesadilla. Hung out and talked for two hours.

Made it home in time to see Acuna in the Home Run Derby. Usually not my thing but having a Brave in the running made it interesting. Was working on my computer so I stayed up and watched the Celebrity Softball Game, with Jenni Finch, Drew Carey, Ryan Howard, Kenny Lofton, Allie Laforce, Dr. Oz, and others. They kept hitting the ball to poor little gymnast Simone Biles, and she could never catch it. There’s always some jerk I’ve never held of taking the game too seriously, like in the NBA All Star Celebrity Game.

Plenty of work to do today and all week.

MARIANO RIVERA converted multiple regular-season save opportunities on the same day, but in different stadiums. In early July of 2000, NYM & NYY played a home-and-home double header. Rivera saved the wins for NYY in both G: 08-Jul-2000(1) & 08-Jul-2000(2). That fall, those same teams met in the WS. His cousin played nine seasons in the majors. Cousin Ruben Rivera toiled in the outfield for 5 teams 1995-2003. Rivera was abandoned by his teammates at a critical time. In the 2013 ASG in the Mets’ Citi Field, Rivera took the mound replacing Steve Delabar to begin the bottom of the 8th inning. All 8 of his defensive AS teammates remained in the dugout for several minutes so that he alone could receive the roaring adulation of the 45,186 fans in attendance.
