Going "Viral"

Want your tweet to make a lot of impressions? Not really what I am after, but when you make a solid reply to Twitter juggernaut Super 70’s Sports, you’ll see the impressions and views rack up. My recent reply to a Greg Maddux tweet garnered almost 9000 views, a fair amount for little old me.

And to come clean, my tweet was only partially true: Christy Mathewson’s career began during the dead ball era, though he played long into the modern era as well. Man I feel better for getting that off my chest.

The Savannah Bananas started up a few years ago about the same time as the Macon Bacon. They were rivals. The  Bacon have great attendance, filly the stadium for most games. The Bananas have become a national sensation.

A negative article about working at the Masters. What did they expect, to get to hand the trophy to the winner? Attend a Masters job fair, all the really good positions had been filled long before.

SANDY KOUFAX  [SABR Bio] led the NL in ERA the final five seasons of his career, from 1962-1966, twice leading the majors as well. He still holds the Modern Day record for strikeouts in a season by any National League pitcher, with 382 in 1965. Every time he won the Cy Young Award, he was the only one in either league receiving votes (1963, 1965, & 1966). Beginning in 1967 the award was given to recipients in both leagues.

What I would get if I won the lottery: a new house, old Honda CRZ two seater, a pickup, car for Ceil and Matthew, condo for M, new Apple watch, laptop, and iPhone, Satchel Paige Braves jersey, perhaps a stake in the Braves ownership team. Corrective eye surgery. Invest in gold and silver. Road trips to national parks, Mount Rushmore, and the Field of Dreams. New clubs, bag, and golf shoes. Trips to Hawaii, Japan, Iceland, Africa, and France. A beach house or condo? Not sure. But maybe a lake house in North Georgia.

Port St Joe is now a hot vacation spot. Three guys from my office spend the same week there every summer, with their families. Ben, Mack, and Matt.
