Publix Marathon

Will ran the Publix Marathon this morning, his first,
finishing in 3 hours 51 minutes - a sub nine minute pace.
In an effort to see him I typed up where the course went.
We tracked him on our phones and saw him pass six times.
S. Centennial Park east on Marietta Street.
1. north on Piedmont Avenue.
2. right on North Avenue, right on Central Park Place
3. left on Baker Highland Connector. Right on Jackson over Presidential Pkwy past Ebenezer Baptist.
4. left on Auburn Ave past MLK birth home, right on Randolph, left on Edgewood.
5. left on Euclid through Inman Park to Little Five Points, left on Moreland.
6. left on Freedom Pkwy past Carter Library, right on Presidential Pkwy
7. right on North, left on North Highland at Plaza Drugs
8. left on Virginia at Va Highland, right on Park Drive
9. cross Monroe into Peidmont Park, west on 10th Street.
10. left on Juniper, right on 5th, right on West Peachtree, left on 5th
11. over 75/85, left on Techwood past Grant Field, right on North
12. right on Tech Pkwy, left on Means, left on Marietta. Here we caught a quick glimpse of Will as he crossed over North Avenue.
 

13. pass aquarium, right on Centennial Olympic Park Drive & MLK Jr Dr past Mercedes Benz Stadium (above).
14. right on Northside across the pedestrian bridge, left on Carter, left on Maple, right on N MLK.




 Clark Atlanta University.
15. thru Clark Atlanta, left on Brawley / Chestnut to Spellman.
16. right on Greensbury, left on Westview, right on Chapel, left on Peters
17. left on Mitchell, right on Prior Street.
Just south of downtown.
Will took off his long sleeve shirt here.
18. left on Fulton, right on Hank Aaron Drive past GSU Stadium

19. right on Atlanta, left on Cherokee
20. pass Grant Park, left on Georgia Avenue
21. around Phoenix Park, then Connally to Crumley to Martin
22. Georgia Ave, up Hank Aaron past the state capitol
23. Memorial Drive east to Oakland Cemetery
24. MLK back to Capitol Avenue to Georgia State.

25. west on Marietta Street across Peachtree to finish



Past the Henry Grady statue.
26. Centennial Olympic Park finish

Will ran the second 13 miles faster than the first,
improving from 454th place to 303rd.
Over the last 6 miles he lowered his overall pace by 5 seconds a mile.
