Einstein’s rules for a better life. He was a man ahead of his time.
1. Spend time on the things that matter.
2. Do the things you love, even if you are terrible at them (like golf!)
3. View problems like a puzzle to be figured out.
4. Think deeply about the things that fascinate you.
5. Don’t let politics fill you with rage or despair.
6. Blind obedience to authority is the greatest enemy of the truth.
7. Science, truth, and education are for everyone, not just the privileged few.

Tuesday: worked until 620 again. Drove home. Winnie was exhausted after having her hair and nails cut. She was proud of her St Patrick's bandana. Supper was roasted chicken and roasted potatoes, and kale. While she was cooking I took out the trash and did other chores. Didn’t sit down. Then cleaned the kitchen after supper.
Was after 9 pm before I sat down. Not much of an evening. Plus I was fielding work phone calls and texts.
Skipped the gym Wednesday morning after not sleeping well. I feel okay but the extra day helped.
Denison read an article highlighting Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s 1978 commencement address at Harvard University: “…we have lost the concept of a Supreme Complete Entity which restrained our passions and irresponsibility. We have placed too much hope in politics and social reforms, only to find out that we were deprived of our most precious possession: our spiritual life. Since man’s body is doomed to death, his task on earth evidently must be more spiritual: not engrossment in everyday life, not the search for material goods. One’s life journey may become an experience of moral growth. Only by voluntary nurturing in ourselves of serene self-restraint can mankind rise above materialism”.
ARTICLE: things the middle class won’t be able to afford in the next 5 years. Several are already too pricey for many: extended family vacations, new cars, private school tuition, home ownership and real estate, healthcare costs, leisure and travel after retirement, investments for retirees keeping pace with inflation.
