Socks

Loving the striped socks so many of the players have been wearing. I've been writing the Braves for years telling them they need to wear them. Jacks their home whites and road grey unis up near the best in baseball.
Dansby, Acuna, Camargo, Ender, Folty, Parsons (above), and several other relievers.  Looks good even with Dansby's white shoes. Need to get Albies and Markakis on board. I think socks are my new obsession. Move over, shoes.
Virginia / Auburn game. I saw the double dribble play but didn't spot the infraction. Guy, the UVA player, did well to hit all three foul shots for the win. Glad Auburn lost – their fans are bad enough as it is. After the game they showed the teams circling up at midcourt for prayer. UVA hero Guy was well-spoken, and first gave glory to God. Later we watched a Hallmark movie, the end of the Braves game, and the last ten minutes of the Texas Tech win. I was rooting for Michigan State. After the game CBS showed the Texas Tech locker room, but quickly cut away then then got on their knees to pray.

I liked the UVA coach as well, and wanted them to win. Bill Teem and Mary-Elizabeth Teem watched the Auburn/Virginia game together. Mary Elizabeth went to Auburn, and Bill went to Virginia.

Left work at 5:30. Ceil cooked a chicken, rice, and vegetable dish. She didn't like it but I thought it was okay. M put his in a frying pan so the rice would be a little crispier. Watched Jeopardy, The Voice, the Braves, and the basketball game. Didn't make it to the end. Ceil stayed up later.

Didn't watch the girls game because I dislike both teams: Baylor and Notre Dame.

An old buddy of mine was at the Astros/Yankees game in Houston.

A man in Florida passed away having lived much of his adult life claiming he was pitcher BILL HENRY  [SABR Bio]. It was only discovered an unraveled after the man's death (click here). Look it up if the link doesn't work!

Fun fact: among quarterbacks, Carson Palmer is the leading tackler in NFL history.

I hate getting down on the floor. Tough enough to get up from the couch. Here at work I have a box under my desk that I put the Sports Illustrated's in that I've already read. But first I'll just put them on top of the box until there's enough of them piled up to bend over and drag out the box and put them in. Invariably some of the magazines will fall on the floor. I've been know to leave them there for weeks and months until I get down there and pick up everything that's dropped down there over the past couple of months.

Are we living in the last days? Some say yes. No one knows the time and date. Radical islamists seek to hasten to coming of their 12th imam, which is why they seek to destroy Israel and the US. The Bible says Jesus will not return until all have had a chance to hear about Him. Presently there are still dozens of people groups who have not been reached. Every year that number decreases.

Is climate change related to the end times? Matthew 24 speaks of famines and earthquakes as we near the end times. The entire chapter is pretty scary. Do people just not believe this stuff any more?

Science tells us that has been no increase in the number of major storms and hurricanes. The climate is not changing. There has always been extreme heat and major storms. Some recorded weather events from the early 1900's and 1800s are conveniently forgotten. Our methods to measure have become more accurate. In the past many measurement means and devices were comparatively unreliable: from temperature gauges in a parking lot to sea level gauges not affixed to a permanent structure. What has increased is the media coverage of these events, as well as public awareness. Oftentimes "facts" are easily distorted by politicians, the media, special interest groups, and as we saw in the Forbes article – the scientists themselves.

But as the day of our Lord grows near, the Bible warns of Fourth beast, that will be different: charismatic, conquering the entire world - and the world will praise him. Sounds well within the realm of possibility. I look around and see so many easily deceived. I must be on my guard to not be deceived myself.
