Southern "Winters"

People are always expressing disbelief when the weather in Atlanta is warm around Christmas. Yet almost every year the temperature will hit 70 degrees at some point in December. In fact we’re supposed to hit 69 degrees later this week. The next time someone blames global warming on a warm winter day in Georgia, remind them it’s like this every year.

The following website shows temps in the 70’s in Dec 1946 and in the 80’s in Nov 1946. I could go on. So global warming is a thing?

Been reading up on UGA’s next kicker Jared Zirkel, who just booted a 48 yarder on Saturday with ease. Tall kid from Texas. He wore number 98 in the all-star game. He’s taken pictures in UGA number 8 (his high school number) but also in a 98, perhaps to follow in Rodrigo’s footsteps.  Nailed a 59-yarder in high school. Today’s Jake Fromm link:

Tua is going pro. All these juniors declare, thinking they’ll be a top pick. That’s if they are the only junior to declare. Now instead of 30 number one picks there are sixty.

Monday: C had come and gone from the Y yesterday before I arrived at 6:15. Did my four miles slightly faster than before, under 15 minute mile pace. Trying to just improve slightly. Sore this morning. Weights this evening.

C cooked chicken soup plus a fancy healthy cole claw. Helped with the dishes then watched The Neighborhood. Then started Ant Man which interested Ceil. When she went to bed I watched a couple of episodes of Parenthood. In season 3 now. I’m really liking this show. Tonight is the premiere of a new musical show I want to see. One of the actors from Parenthood is a costar.
Stayed up late trying to put my feelings into words about how for some long-time Atlantans the term Johnson’s ferry brings back memories of long ago, of loved ones who used to use that phrase, and others like it.

Tuesday: interesting day today. Day trip to Anniston to visit a vendor. Guy we work with is retiring. I’ve never been to this particular vendor before. Made it back before 4 pm.

W&MC just started the “Whole 30” diet. They’ve done it before. Since Anna is living with them she’s on it as well. I’m hoping to go to the Y every day after work. Need to go on weekends too if I’m not doing anything.

Guy at work lost 70 pounds last year. He tries to eat only one meal a day. I’m trying to cut down on what I eat as well, but so far nothing like one meal a day. What will I order for lunch today??? Will I be good??? Good and bad: steak, sweet potato fries, fried cheese sticks, loaded potato skins, two bacon strips. Well, I did lift weights for 50 minutes tonight. Seven exercises: four sets of ten.

I ordered some wireless earphones. Looking to order a leather backpack or satchel to replace my old school briefcase. Returning my Christmas running shoes and will buy replacements hopefully be the end of this week.
