Baseball Blather

A lot of crapola out there on the world wide web, like this just-released MLB power rankings. Let them pick the Mets, like they do every year. Another ranking is more palatable.

Former Central Charger Steve Day passed away recently. Steve was a senior offensive lineman in 1974, my sophomore year. He played between high school all-American center David Taylor and tackle Mack Guest. The Chargers were represented at the funeral by OLB Roger Jackson, OT Al Lewis, FB Wendell Rutherford, C David Cape, P Johnny Crawford, and TE Steve Strange.

Steve Kerr’s top five starting five, comprised of teammates: Jordan, Pippen, Tim Duncan, Shaq, and Mark Price, who was “as good as Steth Curry”.

My beef: a national TV host – whose nephew signed with Clemson – explains the attraction young athletes have with the Tiger program. My question is why do so many Christians have a problem with Dabo’s outspoken Christianity? Isn’t that how a Christ-follower should act? Dabo isn’t as forthright as Tim Tebow. Everyone doesn’t have the same outgoing personality as those guys, and that’s okay, but should Christians attack a fellow believer?

A mental age test – 15 quick questions. I took a similar test recently that said I was in my 60’s. Guess that is a good thing.

Prayers for Buffalo Bill Damar Hamlin, who collaspsed after making a tackle on live TV just now. The former Pitt Panther was administered CPR on the field for over nine minutes before leaving in an ambulance. We normally hardly ever watch NFL football, but had the game on when the play happened. Players visibly shaken and in tears. Announcers had nothing to say. The Bills knelt in prayer as the ambulance left the field. The game was suspended. I've been watching sports for almost 60 years, and have never seen anything like this.
