Willie Gault < Herschel

Someone called Willie Gault the greatest football player to bobsled, so I compared him to Herschel. Not sure what Gault did in college, but we’ll throw that out. Don’t count Herschel’s 7046 yards & 61 TDs in the USFL. Don’t count Herschel’s 8225 yards rushing in the NFL. Just compare their receiving and return yards. It’s still not close.

rec+ret rec rec yd TD long

09943  512  4859  25  93 HW

08225 HW NFL rush (& 60 TD)

07046 HW USFL rush & rec (& 61 TD)

24214 HW total pro yards (1st all-time)

In bobsled Gault was only an alternate on the Olympic team. Herschel made the Olympic team, finishing ninth in the two man bobsled. Gault made the 1980 summer Olympic team, but the US boycotted the Moscow Games. An accomplished sprinter, Herschel posted times similiar to Gault. Details linked below.

I knew Dallas Cowboy Mike Clark kicked a 9 yard field goal in Super Bowl 6 against the Dolphins, but just learned the Jets Jim Turner also 01kicked a 9 yarder in Super Bowl 3 against the Colts. An unbreakable record after the goal posts were moved to the back of the end zone.

I still am not a good texter. Would you believe that business is now conducted via text? There are certain activities where I communicate with my customer and vendors via text. Many young people are most comfortable texting than emailing or talking on the phone or in person.

Saturday night we celebrate my friend Lee's birthday, a total of seven couples at dinner. As I had done about 20 years ago, I cobbled together a quick top ten list. My friends were nice enough to laugh.
