Top NFL Uniforms (again)

The NFL Network’s Top Ten Uniforms listing. It’s almost like they don’t even care any more – they just throw ten items outs there. I know I’ve listed numerous NFL uniform rankings before and maybe even this TV show, but once more doesn’t hurt.

10. Cheerleaders. Who wouldn’t agree?
9. Buccaneers creamsickle unis
8. Bengals stripes. A great helmet for sure.
7. The Browns. Yet they showed the old orange pants. Huh? Like the AJC they’re just trying to stir debate.
6. Pee Wee football. Not sure of the reasoning on this one.
5. 1980’s 49ers. Excellent choice.
4. Cowboys white jerseys. Another good one.
3. Raiders. Yep.
2. All throwbacks – except the 75th anniversary Steelers. A weird but good choice (not the version pictured above).
1. Chargers powder blues. Can’t argue with those.

To me a list should rank ten of the same thing. If you’re going to rank throwbacks then rank ten throwbacks. Unless you‘re ranking all-time uniforms from any era they should all come from the same time period, like today. My favorite NFL uniform era was when I was a kid in the 1960’s.

Here’s my top ten current NFL regular season uniforms. With all the recent redesigns and odd number fonts, my favorites are generally traditional.

Bad: Broncos, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Dolphins, Eagles, Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Panthers, Rams, Texans, Vikings

So So: Bengals, Bills, Ravens, Saints

15. Chargers: powder blue is nice, but I hate the numbers with three different colors you can barely see even up close.
14. Titans: nice shapes of blue.
13. Browns: before the 2015 change
12. Seahawks: nice shade of blue and grey.
11. Jets: but ditch the green pants and all white socks

10. Patriots: blue and silver look good. Trim and red masks aren’t the greatest. Winning makes them look better.
9. Packers: except the striped collars and green masks
8. 49ers: stripes too skinny
7. Redskins: using classic stripes
6. Raiders: stick with a good thing

5. Cowboys: great blue and silver
4. Bears: classic
3. Giants: old school
2. Chiefs: bright and simple
1. Steelers: simple with a unique but plain number font.
