Setting Records

Braves tied the all-time team home run record. Set the record for highest slugging percentage. Had three players hit 40 or more home runs. I think only two teams had done this before, including Aaron, Evans, and Johnson. Four players with 35 or more home runs. Highest ever season attendance. Strider set the franchise record for most strikeouts. Olsen won the MLB HR and RBI crown, but won’t be considered for MVP because Acuna went 40/70. Snitker probably won’t win manager of the year, but should.

When Taylor Swift attends Kansas City games, the Chiefs should use Kelse as a decoy, since opponents will think Travis will be trying to score to show out for his girl.

Reading actor Matthew Perry’s memoir “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing”, about his longtime struggles with drugs and alcohol. He has mentioned God a few times, so we’ll see if at the end he praises or blames God. Forgot that he dated Julia Roberts. Perry's father was the guy in the Old Spice commercials. Perry looks like the dad on the fantasy football ad on ESPN, where the daughter's boyfriend shares fantasy tips (but it's another actor).

My 36th book of the year, on track to break last year’s record of 41. I don’t actually “read” – I listen to the books, on the way to work and while on the treadmill. Also most books I listen to at 1-1/4 speed.

Friday night we watched a good Netflix movie: Love at First Flight. Leftovers for supper.

Sunday afternoon we crashed on the couch. I did laundry and later washed both cars. Watched a Netflix documentary about White Sox owner Bill Veeck’s son, who ran the St. Paul Saints in the Independent League. C made pancakes and bacon for supper.

Also counted and sorted the golf balls I’d brought back from our second trip to SC – 129. Then I sorted all my golf balls, putting the Titleists, Callaways, and Nike balls in one bucket, all the range balls in the picker upper thing, and all the other balls in a second bucket (Top Flights, etc). Both buckets are 3/4 full. Also have about 6 dozen “new” balls still in boxes. And 25 plastic practice balls. Probably close to 400 all total. A lifetime supply.

Ran 4 miles at the gym this morning. Each of my four miles was faster than the previous: 11:49, 11:33, 11:32, 11:21. I was trying to take it easy (and I did). Hard to run a fast first mile because I walk the first minute to warm up.

The rest of the week I have to be at work at 6:30, so not sure what I will do about the gym. Today starts lunch at work every day. First up: sandwiches from Jason’s Deli. Gave a plant tour, making for a 11,000+ step / 6+ mile day. Also facetimed with Shivonne.

Eight interesting abandoned places in Georgia. Includes Dungeness on Cumberland Island.

Some players whose final major league at bat was a home run. Also Ted Williams.
