The Off-Season Begins

More on Friday's game. Some of the tweets after the bad call were hilarious. It seems like the national consensus was that the call was wrong. After the game we turned over to the MLB Network for the interviews with Chipper and Joe Torre and the umpires. They were sticking by the call, of course, and saying as little as possible. Looked like they had just returned from a wake.

All the off-season talk that's starting up is fun. DOB thinks Bourne isn't worth the humongous numbers being thrown around. Seems like the Braves will not say they are out of the running until the huge numbers are discussed, then bow out at that time. I'm sure many fans will think the Braves should pay whatever Bourn wants, forgetting about how he faded during the second half.

I think it escapes most fans that the Braves actually plan for the long term. I'm sure they have short term plans as well. I like Ross and Johnson, and I'm not very high on Boscan. He is no Eddie Perez or Brayan Pena. At some point I hope Uggla has a better season.

Hated that Simmons had such a bad game Friday. I love watching him play. It appeared that he intentionally cut left into fair territory to block the throw to first. Most bunters don't cut, but start off in fair territory and stay there. DOB thought Fredi might've been covering for Simmons by saying it was a safety squeeze. Simmons really forced that throw home. He makes those plays because he isn't afraid to try, but hopefully he will mature a bit. The worst case scenario is he turns into Yunel Escobar (surely not!).

Friday I'm going over to Augusta to take physical inventory. Taking both co-workers.
